Treading Into Glossier Waters

Glossier…. Aka the Holy Grail of skincare according to many. I’m sure this is not the first article you’ve read on the brand, God knows how many articles I’ve read on it, but still, I’d like to add in my 2 cents as well. I couldn’t resist temptation any longer, and asked (no, pleaded) sweet Katia to bring me back some Glossier goodies when she hopped across the Atlantic to discover New York, and thanks to her being the amazing friend that she is, I finally got my mittens on some products. All in the name of blogging of course! For those not aware who or what Glossier is (where have you been?), it’s a beauty and skincare brand created by a super savvy woman (Emily Weiss) super savvy women who know what they want: Enhance what you’ve got and flaunt it, instead of hiding it. No frills, no faffing about, but luxury products that work for a price that doesn’t break the bank. Add in smart packaging, formulas that work and a loyal millennial …

Wishlist Wednesday – Sacred English Whisky Liqueur

Wishlist Wednesday is back! And with a vengeance (maybe not so much, but hey, everyone needs to release their inner Bruce Willis from time to time. Yippie ka yee…). After doing the rounds at the Press Days two weeks ago, not much made a lasting impression, but the taste of one new launch kept lingering on my lips, kept beckoning me to taste more, to discover more. Sacred is expanding their premium spirits collection with one launch at a time, taking their sweet time to craft and perfect every new member of the Sacred family. Their newest offering is the Sacred English Whisky Liqueur,  and it plans to give the current classic, Drambuie, a run for it’s money. An sweetened English whisky with a twist, thanks to it’s 3 year-long ageing on boubon casks. The first drops revealed an intriguing complexity, and I was hooked! Two sips, and I was sold, hook, line and sinker! The orange peels gave it that hint of freshness that kept it from becoming too much, and the cubeb and …

Wednesday Wishlist – Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Cream Masque

A new Wednesday, a new wishlist item, or so it seems. Proof that big love can come from small packaging: the Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Cream Masque. And when I say small, I really do mean small, this latest infatuation actually stems from a sample sachet. I received a sample of this mask with a Philvert order of some other Grown Alchemist goodies (later more on those), gave it a try, and ended up squeezing every single last bit out of the sachet (actually cut it right open so that all could be used) for three more uses…. Rich, creamy, longlasting comfort and plumpness due to the Olive extract and Geranium Oil, and intense hydration thanks to the Babassu, hyaluronic acid and Camellia Oil.  It must be love, love, love…. Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Cream Masque – €59

The Bloomsbury Set – Jo Malone

Every beauty season comes and goes, and with it a set of new launches, like ebb and flow. Normally I go through all of the press releases, make a little note here and there when there’s something that interests me and file them away. Only rarely does a new launch or limited edition series make my heart jump, my pulses race or my eyes light up in an instant. Case in point, the Jo Malone Bloomsbury Collection, her limited edition Spring collection. Inspired by the enchanting free spirited The Bloomsbury set depicting the gorgeous English countryside and the elegance of it’s daily life. “It’s a collection of scents capturing the intoxicating essence of an unconventional life. The lily pond at dawn, bold blue hyacinths, blossoming fruit trees, absinthe afternoons and golden linseed on paint-stained hands. Warming whisky and sweet pipe tobacco. The secrets of waxed floors burnished by footsteps in the night.” – Jo Malone Nose behind this olifactory impression of the English countryside is Yann Vasier, also known for his work on Tom Ford’s Velvet Orchid and other …

New Beauty Haven Alert – Philvert

“It’s Friday, I’m in love!” Well, in this case it’s almost Friday, but I am in love nonetheless! Today saw the launch of a brand spanking new beauty webshop, Philvert, and it’s like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter have rolled into one for this skincare lover. As it would befit a true beauty haven, Philvert is helmed by one of the most knowledgeable skincare connaisseurs out there, Philippe Bijnens. Created when his own extensive search for a Belgian webshop offering effective and organic niche brands skincare fell short, he set out to select the most effective of organic brands with that price / quality ratio we all love, and introduce them to the Belgian market. Kosas lipstocks, Kure Bazaar, Mr Bean scrubs, Antipodes, Marvis Mint, Leonor Greyl, Voya, I don’t know where to look first and more importantly, what to try first! Beauty heaven has arrived! “Practically nobody has time to fully understand what they’re buying or using for beauty and health, so we’re doing that for them, we take out the guesswork and show that there …

Clowing around in the kitchen – Marcel Wanders x Alessi Circus Collection

Very rarely do I  get transfixed by a kitchenware (or any kind of) collection. I see hundreds of new collections or launches pass by on a monthly basis, so somewhat enthousiastic or lukewarm intrigued is the best reaction I can muster most of the time. The latest brainchild of Dutch creative genius Marcel Wanders for Alessi, however, left me mesmerized with its theatrical theme. My love for all things Alessi is very well documented throughout the history of this blog, just have a little search with “Alessi” as your key word, and it’ll become increasingly clear that I am, and always have been, utterly besotted with the brand. Quirky, elegant and not quite run-of-the-mill utensils and kitchen tools that combine form and function in the most perfect of marriages, one filled with love and laughter. Marcel Wanders on the other hand is of course known for putting on a show with his works, grand in thought and execution, and this time he chose the magic and trickery of the big top and the circus as his …

Crazy For Coats

Autumn is finally here, but sweater weather isn’t the only thing I get excited about this season! Time to get those elegant, gorgeously tailored, stunning coats out of their summer residence, and no, I’m not talking about those pesky, bulky bombers or puffed up snow-proof winter coats *That Michelin Man look does not suit me* But these beauties? Striking colours, sharp cuts and that perfect layer to easy into colder temperatures, maybe I should make room for one or two more….  *Anyone else going shopping this weekend?* 1: Terre Bleue  / 2: Baukjen / 3: Scapa / 4: Baukjen / 5: Terre Bleue

5 Things – Fading into Fall

Back from maybe never gone, but it’s time again to get a bit more personal and zoom in on the 5 things that have set my heart racing these last few weeks. Fashion and food is pretty much all I can think about these days *still too bleedin’ hot to even be thinking about a full face of make up*, so it may not come as a suprise that today’s 5 things are fashion heavy…. First up, travelling just got a lot more stylish thanks to this Bugaboo Boxer. Venturing into luggage and travel gear, this adaptable system by Bugaboo is straight up my alley with it’s modular, interlocking cases and sleek design. Perfect partners for city trips or short escapes away with the Boxer are this stunning Mango Shirt Dress and Cosia Cashmere Scarf (Cashmere, grey and Dutch, win win win!). A slick of the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Love Bite lipstick, aka the perfect red-hot lippie, and I am good to cruise into Autumn! Lastly, one of my favourite fashion brands made their colletions even more …

Taking my summer love into Autumn…

Aaaaaah Summer ’16. The summer that lasted an entire week, where at least half of my summer wardrobe did not even make it out of the closest due to a chronic lack of decent weather, and even more of my make remained unused. But above all, the summer of 16 will always be fondly remembered as the summer that I finally took the sartorial plunge. For years *I’m not kidding, I really do mean years…* I’ve been lusting, oooohing and aaahing over these long, swishy, sometimes pleated, sometimes blush coloured and always elegant long skirts, but for some reason I was always hesistant to actually buy one. Too tall, not exactly a single size figure, too much this, too little that, there was always something about my physical appearance that crossed my mind, clouded my thoughts and kept me from going for it! Well, not this year! I went for it, bought not one but two, and fell head over heels in love with long skirts! And now that summer is closing in on us, I …
