Weleda Beauty Balm

Now here’s a first: I am not madly in love with these balms. And I am not afraid to say it.  Just putting it out there. No cushioning, no beating about the bush, no diplomatic euphemisms, no nothing. My skin doesn’t like these balms, and these balms don’t like my skin. That being said, this in no way, shape or form means that the product on it’s own is bad. It just didn’t do anything for me. So what do I do? Do I launch a tirade, detailing everything that didn’t work? No, because a) Weleda and I go way back and while there is no love lost on this release, there still is a whole lot of love for Weleda and other of their products (Skin Food = divinity!), and b), just because it didn’t match well to my skin, doesn’t mean it can’t be the definition of beauty balm perfection for someone else. So that’s where I am leaving it at. The realisation that not every cream is my kind of cream, and …

Leen Travels – A Light Skincare Menu

Aaaaand we’re off! A week-long break, a little R & R before the summer rush! The only problem here? Those kids take up a lot of space leaving only a slither of trolley and toilet bag space for mummy, and yours truly does not know how to travel lightly… Leen + no options = not a match made in heaven. That does not mean I don’t want to try, and with just a little make up bag and the type of holiday in mind, I pared it down the bare essentials. But boy, downsizing is bloody difficult! A good cleanser is indispensable, so the Ren Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth was the first to make the cut. A solid, no frills cleanser that can tackle every layer of make up or sunscreen, but is extremely gentle on my skin as well. Multitasking is key here, so that’s why the Pure Lavender Hydrolat Toner is also coming with me. A firm staple of mine since the first spritz (want to know why I love it so much? Check …

Winter wonders

Every year, well in the thick of January, the weather seems to take a turn for the worst over here, with the already cold temperatures dropping even more, a soft, delicate blanket of snow tenderly covering every possible surface before disappearing again the next day and winds turning chillier as if they haven’t convinced you of their withering powers yet. So when skin get itchy and flaky, hair gets extra static and you generallly feel discomfort, you know it is time to bring out the big guns, the winter-beating wonders. Though a hot, steaming shower might seem like the perfect antidote to a chilly winter’s day, it does more harm than good. a gentle wash with the Avène XeraCalm Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil* gives my itchy limbs the relief they so desperately need, without further irritating or aggravating it. So soft and gentle I even use it on little Miss C as well!  The La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+* hardly needs any explanation. a firm favourite of LeenLovesstyle (read here why), this French miracle worker soothes and relieves dried …

Help needed!

Time to be honest! Ever since having 2 children and between trying to combine those with a full time job, a househould and the blog, my organisational skills have been tried and tested, failed and improved, put through the wringer and strechted to the extreme. Shortly put, they have been the cornerstone and foundation of my day to day life, the difference between (somewhat) smooth sailing and utter stress and desperation. The school/daycare/playtime schedule has been perfected, weekmenu’s are created every weekend and their wardrobes and daily outfits, well let’s just say I’ve got that down to a t. My beauty organization however is in shambles. Lost between products to test in 2 storage cupboards, a bathroom cabinet, a bathroom drawer, a shelf and a nightstand, my skincare and cosmetics collection is nothing short of pure clutter, and I forget to use at least half of the great stuff that I have, only because I don’t know where to look first. Additionally, clutter drives me crazy and turns me into a nervous wreck, so my …

Weleda Christmas Crackers

With Christmas only a few days away, all decorations have been pulled out of their boxes and displayed throughout the whole house, candles are being lit every night and the kitchen continuously smells of gingerbread and cookies. Despite my advocating every year, my mum still won’t let me organize the Christmas dinner at my house, insisting we’d all gather at my parent’s, but she has relented and has handed the decoration duties over to me. One of the things I love most about setting the table for that epic feast of turkey, laughter and loudness is getting out the Christmas Crackers. Not really well known in Belgium, I tend to get mine in the UK, where they can be found everywhere and in every prive range. Christmas Crackers is a little gift, embellished as a fun game, that you place on each plate. Pull both sides at the same time, and a little surpise will come out with a bang. Normally these are filled with little toys, but Weleda managed to combine the joy of …

Weleda Cold Cream: De must have cream voor deze winter?
