Verso Hands Serum

Hands: the busiest part of your body but almost always overlooked. One can nip and tuck all they want, but hands will still give your age away. Scarring, dryness of skin, wrinkling, veins retracting to the upper layers, these tell tale signs will only confirm that your hands have already lived a life. Maybe Madonna should have paid better attention when this concept was explained… I got my hands on the Verso Hand Serum (forgive the lame pun; I simply coul dnot resist) earlier last Autumn, and was intrigued by it’s different approach to hand care than your normal run-of-the-mill hand cream. Not to be applied when hands were feeling dry, this gorgeous tube took a place in my morning and evening skincare routine. Eyes, serum, hand serum, oil and cream, that’s the way we roll! Verso is latin and means reverse, as in the backside of a painting or the back view of a dress. It is what is normally hidden underneath or has long disappeared, and this supercharged hand treatment aims to literally …

Verso Super Facial Oil

Oils really are having their moment, and who can blame them! Their texture, results, versatility and easy application have turned them into champions of our skincare routines, with facial oils being so ahead of the curve they make you feel like they’re all your face will ever need. After Filipa K, Acne Studios and Alexander Skarsgard, Verso skincare is one of the hottest brands to come out of Sweden these last few years. Going against the current idea of a product for every imagineable problem, their concise line of skincare  exists of only a handful of products that are simple yet effective, all centered around one key ingredient Retinol 8 and each with the possibility to target several problems at the same time, depending on your skin needs. Sounds fancy? I know! The seventh product to be added to this line up is the Verso Super Facial Oil, a dry, airy oil based around Verso’s key ingredient, Retinol 8. High doses of Retinol 8 ( 8 times more powerful and less agressive to the skin …

My morning skincare routine

A while ago I spoke of a skincare routine experiment that hideously went wrong (check it here), and while most of the products in that routine were really good for Autumn, I decided to switch things up a bit and tailor it a bit more to what my skin needs at the moment. Winter is here (it finally started snowing a few days ago!), so soothing, protecting and hydrating are what I’m all about these days. A few tweaks here and there might be a bit of an understatement, most products have been replaced by richer versions, like a snuggly sweater and a cashmere scarf for my skin, all rolled into one. Taking over from the Radical Hydrating Cleanser is the 001 Skincare Exfoliating and Conditioning Cleanser*, which, though less hyrating, is a lot more soothing and balancing, with an added exfoliation to boost (so one less product to use and a minute longer in bed!). A triple performer: it completely eliminates all that morning puffiness, it relaxes and calms my skin and somehow manages to give …

My skincare routine – a work in progress

Or: how beauty bloggers can also get it wrong. I took this picture a few weeks ago, fully intending to use it as an Instagram-update on my (at that time) current skincare routine, but alas as fate should have it, the next day, the odd one out in this line up created such a huge allergic reaction on my cheeks and chin that I tossed both the product and the post. Cue a few weeks later, when I decided to use that grainy picture after all (perfect metaphor for the result on my skin :-)) as a way of proving that us beauty bloggers aren’t the know-it-alls we like to be, and that trial and error are more common than we’d like to admit. 4 out of the 5 products in this routine fall in good / really good / stellar categories, The Radical Hydrating Cleanser is one of 4 cleansers I use regularly at the moment, and it is a good, basic, hydrating cleanser. I first purchased it after seeing Amelia rave about it …

Beauty hotspot – Fin du jour

The promise of the discovery of a new skincare brand combined with the exploration of a new beauty haven lured me to Ghent last weekend, and whilst it had been a while since my last visit to this fair city, it was a long overdue one. I’ll tell you more about the skincare in tomorrow’s post (I can already tell you it’s a good ‘un, once more the Scandinavian prove that less is more), Equally impressive, if not more, was the beauty hotspot where the presentation was held. Proving that Antwerp and Brussels is not the only Belgian cities, Fin Du Jour is firmly placing Ghent on the map as the place to be for exclusive, hard to find, luxurious, quality beauty brands. This beauty trove is lovingly owned and curated by Miriam Rouw, beautiful inside and out, who after a career in law, decided to pursue her dreams and open her own boutique. Besides selecting those unique brands, she did a beautiful job in decoration the job, choosing a calmng, white colour scheme that …
