Eucerin Sun Dry Touch

Day 2 of a much needed long weekend, and while the sun may not have been a super trooper today, I still spent most of my day outside. And while those long, lazy, sunkissed summer days are still to come, I still make sure that I do not step outside without a touch of sun protection. You know the saying: “Just because you don’t see the sun, doesn’t mean she’s not there to cause havoc on your skin!” When it comes protecting my skin from UV-A(Aging)- and UV-B(Burning) radiation, I have an entire army of protectors, but two of my latest discoveries from Eucerin Sun have been leading the charge against short- and long term damages. Both the Transparant Mist Dry Touch For Body SPF 50* and the Oil Control Gel-Crème Dry Touch For Face SPF 50 *have secured a prime spot in my suncare stash. The Oil Control Gel-Crème Dry Touch For Face SPF 50  may at first sight  not  be a perfect match for a dry skinned lady as me, but when the sun starts …

This week (May 4 – 8) is the week of the melanoma (and even more of the fight against it), and the importance of checking your skin never was any bigger! A little skincheck a day hopefully keeps the cancer away, as 90% of skin cares that are detected in an early stage can be fought and cured. So please keep an eye on your own skin and the one of your loved ones, lather yourself and everyone around you in sunscreen, and go easy on your skin, we only have one. Become a Skinchecker, save a life!

Lancaster Skin Therapy Perfect Perfecting Texturizing Moisturizer

Some brands have you running to the nearest beauty counter as soon as their latest release drops, purely based on name, hype and reputation. Other brands need a bit more coaxing, a gentle persuasion of sorts that will make you consider, think and rethink teh brand before realising there might be a hidden gem amongst their products. Lancaster is one of those brands, their suncare being the best of the bunch by a mile, but their regular skincare isn’t to be underestimated either. You just have to know what to use when. One of the most-heard skin problems isn’t a pin-point specific issue, it’s a combined effect of stress, tiredness and general every-day city life that makes our complexion looks dull, reddish, and generally lacking radiance, health and oomph. An all-round burn out of your skin so to speak. You know, those days whe your sking can use a little Photoshop action. That’s when Lancaster wants to put their Skin Therapy Perfect Perfecting Texturizing Moisturizer *in play. Quite a mouthfull for their latest range designed to literally erase any …

Acqua Di Parma Italian Resort Revitalising Face Serum

Acqua Di Parma is building up momentum, and don’t we know it! The Italian maestro, long known for delivering luxurious scents that take you right back to every sensory aspect of Italy (Italian rose gardens? Check! Christmas in Tuscany? Light this candle!) are having their moment in the sun, and are infusing my bathroom with a touch of luxury and a splash of Italian va-va-voom. The brand’s love for Italy, the Mediterranean, it’s people and it’s natural riches is apparent in all they do, and truely is the core of what they are all about. Hot off the press is their renewed Italian Resort body and skincare collection, inspired by the luscious Mediterranean vegetation. Silky smooth textures, enclosed in extra-pure glass bottles, where the deep blue shades and bright transparencies recall the colours and reflections of the sea. Sounds too good to be true? Let’s put it to the test, shall we? Avanti! The latest newcomer in my morning routine is the Acqua Di Parma Italian Resort Revitalising Face Serum*, promising to be a flash of energy and radiance, …

Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm With Rosewood

It’s no secret that the French have long mastered the skincare game, and that French pharmacy brands are on a whole different level! Darphin, first among equals of these French pharmacy high-end treasures, has a solid base that they have been building ever since that first potion created by Pierre Darphin 60 years ago in his beauty salon on the legendary Place Vendôme. Driven by a desire to combine their knowledge of pure, effective botanical plants, aromatic care and essential oils, they have created that perfectly tuned, cohesive series of products that just beguilingly invite you to have that spa experience in the comfort of your own bathroom. Not only offering luxurious textures that far surpass the normal French pharmacy offering, Pierre Darphin himself created several skin-sculpting and massaging techniques that not only boost the performance of the Darphin products, but also keep your skin glowing and healthy. Off course nothing beats a pampering session in the luxurious surroundings of the Darphin Spa, but on those days that Paris just isn’t an option, I like …

Vichy Ideal Body Balm

“Spring might be approaching, but when you have a look at my legs, you might be fooled into thinking differently. Crocodile skin and patchy limbs call for heavy duty body care, and that’s where this new Vichy discovery comes in handy. I can see you thinking “Another body balm article, Leen?”, but bear with me for a second. Vichy may not get a lot of airplay here on LeenLovesStyle, mainly because it is not one of those brands that excite me, or makes me want to dig in deeper and explore more. Stuck in the “meh” zone once too often, I kind of not even think about the brand when in need of new stuff. However, a friend of mine nagged me to give the Vichy Ideal Body Balm a try, and now I’m hooked. When you look at the ingrediënt list, it’s no surprise either this one gets a double thumbs up, as it is filled to the brim with 2 ingredients borrowed from their skin care siblings, ie Hyaluronic Acid (a big favourite here on …

Mummy’s little helpers – how to look good, even after hardly any sleep.

Chances are that I look like a wreck at the moment. Beauty blogger or not, a lack of sleep has this way of causing havoc on your skin and appearance, and no one knows this better than mothers! My two little munchkins have been messing up my nightly dose of zzzzzzz’s lately, and my skin and eyes (Bags down to my knees! Red, blotchy, grainy skin!) are showing for it! However, I have a few little tricks up my sleeve that jolt my skin right back into thinking it had a full night’s sleep, after a comforting mug of ginger & lemon tea and a bowl of organic yoghurt with blueberries and some apple spiced walnut muesli, these lifesavers come out to do their job! The Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is a longtime love of mine, if soulmates came in beauty products, this would be mine! A few drops after my serum and before my moisturizer perk my skin right up, adding the necessary moisture, nourishment and calmth while providing the Vitamin A that boosts …

Winter wonders

Every year, well in the thick of January, the weather seems to take a turn for the worst over here, with the already cold temperatures dropping even more, a soft, delicate blanket of snow tenderly covering every possible surface before disappearing again the next day and winds turning chillier as if they haven’t convinced you of their withering powers yet. So when skin get itchy and flaky, hair gets extra static and you generallly feel discomfort, you know it is time to bring out the big guns, the winter-beating wonders. Though a hot, steaming shower might seem like the perfect antidote to a chilly winter’s day, it does more harm than good. a gentle wash with the Avène XeraCalm Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil* gives my itchy limbs the relief they so desperately need, without further irritating or aggravating it. So soft and gentle I even use it on little Miss C as well!  The La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+* hardly needs any explanation. a firm favourite of LeenLovesstyle (read here why), this French miracle worker soothes and relieves dried …

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

Winter is in full swing over here, and where I would normally shove aside all summery cleansing milks for the heavier, balmier and creamier stuff, my cleansing balms have been severely neglected for my evening cleansing ritual, and it is all thanks to this Asian beauty! The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil* is a well kept secret; straight from Japan and has been taking Europe by storm, and when you look at the ingredients list, it’s no surprise. Short and sweet, just how we like it : extra olive oil, rosemary oil, licorice and Vitamine E. No mineral oils, no added nasties, no preservatives and no fragrance. Nothing but the good stuff! So far, so good. I’ve tried and battles with cleansing oils before, and never with a roaring succes. Not cleasing enough, not nourishing enough, too water-y, they never quite hit the mark. Despite my initial hesitation, to my bathroom cabinet it went. Two little pumps and a facial massage later, I was hooked! A thick, golden oil, applied to a dry face, massaged in “Lisa Eldridge …

My morning skincare routine

A while ago I spoke of a skincare routine experiment that hideously went wrong (check it here), and while most of the products in that routine were really good for Autumn, I decided to switch things up a bit and tailor it a bit more to what my skin needs at the moment. Winter is here (it finally started snowing a few days ago!), so soothing, protecting and hydrating are what I’m all about these days. A few tweaks here and there might be a bit of an understatement, most products have been replaced by richer versions, like a snuggly sweater and a cashmere scarf for my skin, all rolled into one. Taking over from the Radical Hydrating Cleanser is the 001 Skincare Exfoliating and Conditioning Cleanser*, which, though less hyrating, is a lot more soothing and balancing, with an added exfoliation to boost (so one less product to use and a minute longer in bed!). A triple performer: it completely eliminates all that morning puffiness, it relaxes and calms my skin and somehow manages to give …
