Winter Bases

Also known as “The One That Was Supposed To Be Called Summer Bases But Evolved Into Winter Foundations” ( somehow I hardly wore any bases between May and October). Foundations and coverage have found their way back into  my make up stash, and these 4 bases have been tried and tested these last few months. Spoiler alert, there were 2 absolute winners, one that was just so-so, and one that turned out to be a complete no-no. First up, I went straight fo the Shiseido Waso Colour Smart Day Moisturizer. After originally dismissing this little tube as not being moisturizing enough for my Sahara dry skin,  I dug it back out a month or two ago and reintroduced it into my routine, but with a little twist. Instead of just going by its moisturizing mismatch with my skin, I started layering it over my Sukin Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin as a base, a little cover-up operation without having to go for a heavy hitter foundation or a glitter-ball, all too quick at disappearing BB/CC Cream, …

Sisley Double Tenseur

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a Sisley product, as I do not want this blog to become the posterchild for the Sisley Fanclub, but sometimes I just cannot help myself… Why do they have to be so darn good, every.single.time?! This month the LeenLovesStyle Sisley Fanclub presents: The Sisley Paris Double Tenseur Moisturizing Gel*! Double what? Double in use, double in effect? The Double Tenseur is being promoted as a skinare and make-up 2-in-1 product, acting both as a primer and as lifting agent (double in use), as a part of you morning routine and for little touch ups (double nr 2) and with a short term and long term effect (double nr 3). Keeping in line with Sisley’s traditions, the formula is packed with botanical and plant-based active ingredients. Oat seeds, Tiger Nut and Cottonseed extracts strengthen the dermal structure and create a 3D mesh effect that not only mimicks your skin to look it’s best, but also lifts, tones and plumps your epidermal, making you look refreshed and well rested in …

Monday Make Up

Another weekend has come and gone, and what lies ahead is a week filled with boring meetings, tight deadlines, excel sheets, mails and numbers. The weekend flew by, and to say that it was a busy one, is a major understatement. Two birthday parties, a bbq, friends, family, a battalion of toddlers and maybe a glass of bubbles too many… My face is showing on the outside how I feel on the inside (hint: not that fabulous…), so I popped out a few helpers to make me look half decent. The Sisley Sisleÿa Le Teint Foundation in 0R Vanilla needs no explanation (just check the archives for an astonishing amount of love for this brand and it’s foundations…). Many have tried, but never succeeded as the Sisley foundations continue to reign supreme in my collection. A soft touch of the Sothys Radiance Blush in Nuit Orangée as the perfect pick-me-up shade, but as this soft, satinesque powder is heavily pigmnted, I have to go in with a gentle hand. The eyes have it, but not too …

Lippie Friday

Friday Lipday! I’m all in! What better way to start that final countdown to the weekend or liven up that final day at work than a bright lippie, and I am more than happy to oblige. Two days ago we celebrated International’s Women’s Day, and both this year’s motto “Be Bold For Change” as this article by Sali Hughes inspired me to break out my favourite reds again. ” Red lipstick is a kiss to womankind” – Sali Hughes First up, and my utter favourite by a landslide: the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. It’s praises have been sung by countles beauty afficionada’s, and there really is no other like it. Vibrant and intensely pigmented with the most beautiful perfect deep red, this stunner offers that perfect balance between grace, elegance, strength and attitude! Up next, and gracing my lips today is the MAC Viva Glam I. A slightly darker blue-ish red. A touch darker than Ruby Woo, but texture-wise the same, and holding power is also equal. I find that I …

Friday Face

Hint, there’s not a lot going on! After last Summer’s make up funk (Want to know what funk? Read here), I still have not ventured back into a three colour eye look or a full face of make up. A crisp, perfect base, mascara and a lipstick to match my mood, and I am a happy camper. A flick of black liner when I feel fancy, but that is about it. My eyeshadow singles, duo’s and palettes have not moved an inch since last June, heavily neglected. These last few weeks, I keep reaching for the same combination, let’s call it my ‘Basic’s Deluxe’ look. First up, two pea sized drops of the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer prove to be the perfect base coat, smoothing out what needs to be smoothed out without being too slippery or oily. I then buff in the Sisley Anti-Ageing Foundation with the Beautyblender for a natural look with a good dose of medium coverage. The Sisley foundation is rather new to my collection, but it was an instant …

End of Summer Make Up Menu

My entire summer make up musings have consisted of my basically discarding almost all make up, a constant streamlining of my entire routine to the bare minimum *who am I kidding, I’m just downright lazy*. My three product make up look is pretty must the most often used look this summer, and even when I felt like stepping it up, I did not venture beyond one swipe of eyeshadow. I’d love to be able to say that thing shave beeen looking up and I have started putting in more of an effort since, but nooo, the summer of beauty laziness is still in full force! *sorry not sorry* These last few weeks have been jam-packed with meetings and filling in for other people, which basically meant a constant stream of people at my desk and a whole lot of stress and frustration to erase from face, so I altered my line up a bit to give it a bit more oomph, but still within the boundaries of my excessive don’t want to put in an ounce …

Summer holiday make up (or lack thereof…)

The sun has been out and about in all of it’s crowning glory these last few weeks, and whenever that happens, my make up cravings completely dissolve into sweet nothingness. even the slightest hint of eyeshadow becomes too much to bear. Keeping that in mind, I challenged myself to pack only the bare minimum of make up for our summer trip, only allowing myself to take with that which I knew I would surely use. Turns out, I use extremely little make up on holiday (skincare on the other hand is quite a different story…). Here’s what travelled to France with me. Little clue: it’s not much…. Turns out, the bare minimum reallty is the bare minimum, because I ended up taking only three make up items with me. Not taking my mascara with me was a no go, so the Sisley So Curl Mascara got grabbed quicker than Imelda Marcos and a new pair of Louboutins. A deep, intense black colour, lashes that are instantly curled, thickened and lifted, it’s my flash wake-up trick every …

When a BB Cream meets an SPF… A little love story

Once upon a time… well, we all know how the story goes. Boy meets girl, girl has amazing skin, boy falls head over heels and off they go, setting off into the sunset. And behind the scenes of the fairy tale, if the girl doesn’t  have perfect skin, it’ll easily be faked with a touch of BB cream. If on the other hand, our fair lady is gifted with the most perfect porcelain skin possible, a good SPF will most probably be her weapon of choice. But when you need both the SPF and the coverage, things become trickier. A good SPF that doesn’t turn your face into a grease fest is already hard to find, A good SPF that also adds a touch of coverage and doubles as a moisturizer, well that’s just ‘a fairytale’! Enter my personal Prince Charming, Sisley’s Super Soin Solaire Facial  Tinted Sun Care SPF 30 ! A sun care treatment that promises to protect the skin from the effects of photo-aging such as wrinkles, brown spots, dehydration and loss of firmness, combined …

Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask

Sisley oh Sisley, each time I try to break away fom your hold on me (and my wallet), you keep finding new ways to reel me in! A Model Recommends’ Ruth once described the brand as ” If you have some cash floating about and you’re looking for great skincare, then make friends with Sisley”. That just about sums it up. Great skincare, not so great prices…. The Sisley Youth Protector Face SPF50 still is one of the best face SPF’s I’ve ever tried, and even at €95 a bottle, I’d still consider a rebuy of the Sisley Phyto Teint Expert All-Day Long Skincare Foundation, it’s just that good! Why oh why does the good stuff always have to be that expensive? I tried to hold off on trying the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask for quite a while (two years to be exact…), but I finally caved after numerous raving reviews from friends and acquaintances, and boy, a part of me wishes I didn’t… Brightening, hydrating, plumping, soothing, overall boosting, collagen stimulation… this little tube of pink creaminess straight from …

The Sisley Love Affair Grows…

When Sisley does make up, it’s never just make up. Make up with benefits doesn’t even cover it, but it’s a great start. Both my skin and the luxury-loving kitten within loves the brand and all it comes up with, and their two latest releases aren’t any different. Enfusing a high dose of skincare into each of their make up launches, let’s see how their new eyeliner and finishing powder deliver in that department, and on my skin. I’ve always been a big fan  of Sisley make up, their Sisley Phyto Teint Expert All-Day Long Skincare Foundation in Sand still is my number one foundation, and Sisley Phyto-Poudre Libre* is supposed to be the perfect sidekick. An airy, almost feather-like powder, soft and silky to the touch, creates this nourishing veil on my skin, but in this way that makes you have a little re-look at yourself in the mirror. When used alone, it doesn’t do much, but when combined with a BB cream (especially the Filorga BB Cream) or a foundation, that’s when the magic happens! …
