Wishlist Wednesday – Burberry Rocks The Espadrille

Burberry has always held a special place in my heart (even back when it was all tartan and no trend). The icon par excellence of all things British has gone from being a British upper class staple to becoming a worldwide trendsetter ( That monogrammed poncho! That heart-print blouse! The make up!). Each season, their collection enchants me in unexpected ways, leaving me lusting after something I never thought I’d want, and this summer, it’s no different. Espadrilles never really appealed all that much to me, not even when the Chanel ones were all the rage a few season ago. Sure, I do have a hot pink pair that I only wear at home, but actually combining them with a great outfit and go outside? Never! Fast forward to about a week ago, when A Burberry newsletter dropped into my mailbox, and my heart skipped a beat! I instantly fell in love! Head over heels, hook, line and sinker, you know the likes. Not a check in sight, the stripe or animal print just beg …

Pharrell Williams paints Adidas Oiginals in Supercolor

As Spring breathes new life into the world around me, time to inject some colour and freshness into my wardrobe. All through winter, I lived in shades of black, white, grey and powder pink, and instead of blending into the crowd, Spring calls for turning heads, wherever you go! Now obviously a new Spring wardrobe also calls for new shoes, and this time, no ballet flats or Acne Pistol boots! Adidas Originals, fresh off of a previous revival of another of their classics, the Stan Smith, tapped into the crazy mind of über trend maestro Pharrell Williams for a remake of their iconic Superstar model. You can imagine every hipster, fashion blogger and self-professed style connaisseur from here to New Zealand pounding the pavements with these pretties, and quickly becoming a mindless part of the hipster uniform. This uniformity makes you a bit wary? Don’t worry, Pharrell is all about doing your own thing and expressing your own personaliy, so he wanted the Supercolor to be available in, well, a super array of 50 colours. From …

The perfect shoe wardrobe – 5 pairs every woman should own.

Whenever I am having a girlie chat with my friends, a little downtime with my female co-workers or somer serious obsessing with my blogging besties, at one point the conversation will undoubtedly turn towards that very item that pulls at every woman’s heartstrings. A beautiful pair of shoes is a true work of art, and whilst I believe you can never have too much shoes, there are 5 styles that ought to be incorporated in every wardrobe. These 5 will see you from day to night, from casual to super chic, and will put just about any and every outfit together. Think about it as your little cheat sheet for the next time you want to go shoe-shopping. A black pump Also known as the cornerstone  of my wardrobe! A beautiful, slender heeled black pump complement everything from a skinny jeans to a cocktail dress, and will take you from the work floor straight to the dance floor. Matte leather or suede as you like, just try to avoid the shiny, cheap looking plastic ones. Black boots Another workhorse shoe.  Ankle boots …

Autumn Favourites

These first few weeks of Autumn have passed, and after all those months of t-shirts, skinnies, shorts, tops and silk shirts, we are all desperate to slip into our winter gear, wishing to be wrapped in cashmere, wool or leather whilst sipping Pumpskin Spice Lattes, hot chocolate and mulled wine. We want to rejoice in our structured coats and wave goodbye to bikinis (until the thick of Winter when we can all start complaining about the cold and long for Spring.), enjoy that thought process of layering, fall in love with that perfect soft knit and hunt for that perfect coat (one for each occassion of course!). Rich colours such as oxblood, camel, sage and navy, paired with black and white remain classics that are true troopers when it comes to compatabilty (hello cost per wear!), so they’ll be staples for years to come. A shearling jacket with a peplum twist, a gorgeous leather pencil skirt, a hipster pair of ankle boots or the comfiest over the knee boots out there, a few well selected …

5 Things

Sneak peek time…Here’s what’s been racing through my mind the last week. * Family time: an off the cuff remark made by one of my dearest friends got me to thinking about families, time spent together and the quality and quantity of said time. Hearing her say how much she misses those planned and unplanned dinners with the family makes me realize how lucky I am to have such a great, easygoing relationship with my parents, sister and in-laws. * Preen By Thornton Bregazzi for Nails Inc: It’s not easy for any nailpolish or make up brand to come with new, exciting colours that we haven’t seen before, but this cooperation between the nailpolish brand and the über cool fashion house makes me want to have them all, right here right now! Atlantic and Florida with a little touch of Deco Cuts is all I’ll ever need on my tippy toes this summer! * Guess Mistry shoes: These shoes have been the object of my affection ever since I saw them for the first time, …

Wishlist Wednesday – Max Mara Ladino Flat

My love for ballet flats has been well documented (see here). And whilst I love high heels as much as any other fahion-abiding woman, when I have to spend a whole day on my feet, flats are the way to go. My brief for the perfect flat is simple: leather soles for comfort and support, a gorgeous colour that complements a plethora of outfits and preferably a pointy or oval rounded tip to elongate the legs. Cue the Max Mara Ladino in Cornflower Blue (or Gold, or Red :-))   Evoking dreams of Italian elengance in the Sixties, of summers spent in Capri with Sophia Loren, both sipping Aperol Spritz on a terrazza, this metallic blue beauty is everything I look for, and then some. A flirty skirt, a beautiful shift- or wrapdress and even a tailored pair of trousers, these couture cuties can take them on and give that touch of elegance I almost always seek. I can just see myself pairing them with this t-shirt, white denim cut-offs and this clutch for a …

Wishlist Wednesday –

Ballet flats and I, we’re like 2 peas in a pod. If I had the space (and the budget) to own a pair in every colour and print imaginable, I would. Now, the World Cup in Brasil is coming up (not telling you anything new here, I guess), and though football is not really my thing, the inevitable avalanche of limited editions that precede such an event sometimes contain some true beauties that transcend that football-vibe. Prime example: these limited edition Lolo ballerina’s. Bright yellow and adorned with a sweet little bow in the Belgian national colours, these are simply gorgeous, football-related or not. A perfect match with some summery cut offs or an ideal finishing touch to a great pair of skinnies, these sunny yummies will instantly brighten up your day (and mood). With the sun already at my feet, maybe I won’t miss it too much during that typical, rainy, Belgian summer…   Limited edition – 95 euro. Available via http://www.lolo-theballerina.be
