White and gold heaven

It’s Sunday, time for my weekly interior design inspiration session, also known as “I really want to redo the whole of my house, but might have to wait a while longer….” This week, I’ve been crushing on white (#repeatoffender) with little touches of gold, both yellow and rose. A light fixture here or a kitchen or bathroom tap there, the hue of the accent forms a perfect offset that makes the white look even more pristine and calming, so hey, double whammy!

Sunday Inspiration

I am a sucker for beautiful bathroom decors, and don’t we all know it. I admit, I am guilty as charged, so what better way to spend a lazy Sunday, especially a cold, freezing one like today, browsing for some bathroom inspiration. Hot cup of tea in one hand, legs cozily covered by softest blanket ever, kids are happily playing in their room (Thank heavens for Lego!) and I am floating away on clouds of marble, stunning bathroom vanities, deco inspiration and a renewed surge to tackle my bathroom. Happy a happy Sunday lovelies!   Pictures via Pinterest and Tumblr

Inspiration Sunday

Time to about things differently this Sunday. Instead of focusing on a certain detail, a certain style or a certain room, how about I show you the real smorgasboard of inspiration that caught my eye this week? Food styling or a certain dishes that made me salivate just by looking at them, gorgeous tiles, images that set my wanderlust alight, cosy sweater season must haves and the most gorgeous Fall fashion colour scheme. Sundays are for dreaming….   Pics via Pinterest and Tumblr.

Deco Dreaming – A White Sofa?

The greyer it gets outside, the dreamier I get inside. I know I keep blabbing on and on about white and black and all that monochrome love of mine, (I should probably rename this blog 50 shades of white obsessed), and this time, but deco dreaming has skipped an entire room and has zoomed in on a single item, a pristine, clean and lush white sofa. As much as I love my current slate grey version (kids + leather sofa = dream team!), I cannot help myself dreaming away about angelic white arrangements, with black and grey touches, completely flooded by gorgeous sunlight streaming in through windows as grand as can be! One day, my dreams will come true! Inspiration courtesy of Pinterest

Deco Dreaming – A Pinterest Worthy Office

Being the cool blogger that I am, I don’t have my own office at home. We had one, I must admit, but it got turned into a nursery when I was pregnant child nr 1., you know, priorities and all. With child nr 2, any dreams about my own office space got pushed back even further, but the dream remains! For the time being, my dining room table (or even sofa) has to do as my working area, but one day…one day I’ll have my own space! And when that day comes, I’d better be prepared, so I’ve got inspiration at the ready! My love affair with a white interior will probably never fade, there’s no doubt that my little corner needs to be a calming shade white as well! A few cabinets or drawer for storage are imperative, so that I can keep the working surface as clean and tidy as possible (tidy desk = tidy mind…), a little accessory or detail here and there, and I am a very happy camper! And as …

Mesmerizing Marble

Marble has it! Michelangelo knew it, the Romans knew it and boy, do I know it! Marble has really been having it’s moment these last few moments, with it’s beautiful confluence of white and soft grey popping up everyhere, from serving as the best backdrop for a beauty product shot to being the hottest print for t-shirts and accessories! Marble in my house? Now we’re talking! I’ve been going Pinterest crazy lately, looking for all the marble-infused inspiration I need!   Pictures via Pinterest

White wooden floor dreamin’

Kids and a white decor, that sounds like asking for trouble! And still, I just cannot stop dreaming about painting our (not so fantastic, boring beige-brown) wooden floors upstairs (and downstairs if I’m completely honest) a beautiful shade of white! To just jump in, feet first, re-do the entire upper floor and just not think about my wee ones painting and drawing on that pristine white canvas, getting Play Doh stuck in every nook and cranny or black tire marks from just about every Lego vehicle racing from one end of the room to the other. The more I think about, white really is the way to go! Might just have to wait a few more years till after those toddler years, and just be happy dreaming and Pinterest-ing till then….

A little beauty hideaway at home – Hülsta Lunis

Every woman needs a little hideaway spot just for themselves, to unwind after a long stressfull day, re-energize and replenish yourself or to just have a little moment to prepare yourself for the day ahead. In an ideal world, I would live a block away from the beach so that I could nip out for 5 minutes every day, but hey, unfortunately we can’t have it all… Another thing I’ve been dreaming about to have for a long, long time is my very own vanity table, a little spot in the bedroom reserved just for me to put my make up on, take it off, experiment a little with new products or just fiff faff about as wel beauty-obsessed bloggers like to do. Obviously, with my well known soft spot for Scandinavian design, a white colour scheme and clean lines, not just any dressing table would do (many vanities have been vetoed because too frilly, too girly or too “bweugh”). An ancillary unit that would look equally striking as my make up haven as a …

50 shades of white to calm my mind

This morning’s Instagram picture says it all, when it comes to what I dream about what I’d love my ideal home interior to look like, soft tones of grey and a hint of colour keep popping up in an otherwise almost virgin-esqye white surrounding. A place to come home to after a day of meetings and where you can just mentally disconnect from all the stress, where everything just oozes calmth. For now, with two toddlers running, jumping and meddling around, it will best remain a moodboard and smorgasbord of ideas, but the moment my two little mosters stop spilling their food and drinks everywhere, this post will be prime inspiration for that major interior overhaul! Pinspiration – Winter Whites

As much as I love fashion, it  can be restrictive at times. No skinnies if you’re over a size 40, no black with navy (gorgeous colour combo though!), no socks with sandals (that’s just a no-no), no stripes with checks, and most importantly, no white after Labour Day (end of summer for all my non-American readers).  As Mr B will gladly acknowledge, I was never one for listening much to others, I prefer to do my own thing. And to be honest, I just love a beautiful winter white. An outfit or focal piece that echoes the calmth of winter, the serenity of cold or the purity of snow, what’s not to love? Granted, it may not be the best outfit to, go on that family walk Sunday afternoon, but this combination of a white centre piece, accompanied by a soft dove grey, ice blue,  tender lilac or contrasting camel companion just screams cool (haha, pun intented!) elegance! I do need a bit more inspiration though, as my white skinny – breton longsleave or light …
