Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick

It’s Friday, I’m in love! What better way to start the weekend than a kick-ass lipstick and an overflow of shades to choose from? A girl has to have options, right? Bourjois understands that like no other, and launched their Rouge Velvet The Lipstick Collection late last year. A mouth-watering series of 12 matte lipsticks promising to be intensely pigmented and long-wearing, a touch of French glamour and va va voom. Oh la la…. The Rouge Velvet The Lipstick is not the first lipstick collection I’ve tried from Bourjois, and they’ve  proven themselves to be a premium drugstore brand with their previous lippie launches. Their attention to detail sets them aside from their competitors, with the lipstick bullet shaped for precision application and the casing of the lipstick matching the shade inside. Now all that could just be unnecessary extra’s if the lipsticks themselves turn out to be a dud, so I put the 6 shades that I have at home through the ringer over the holidays, and to be honest, I was suitably impressed! The …

Lippie Friday

Friday Lipday! I’m all in! What better way to start that final countdown to the weekend or liven up that final day at work than a bright lippie, and I am more than happy to oblige. Two days ago we celebrated International’s Women’s Day, and both this year’s motto “Be Bold For Change” as this article by Sali Hughes inspired me to break out my favourite reds again. ” Red lipstick is a kiss to womankind” – Sali Hughes First up, and my utter favourite by a landslide: the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. It’s praises have been sung by countles beauty afficionada’s, and there really is no other like it. Vibrant and intensely pigmented with the most beautiful perfect deep red, this stunner offers that perfect balance between grace, elegance, strength and attitude! Up next, and gracing my lips today is the MAC Viva Glam I. A slightly darker blue-ish red. A touch darker than Ruby Woo, but texture-wise the same, and holding power is also equal. I find that I …

Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl

Lipproducts and me, we’ve got this on-off relationship thing going on. The bad boy of my make up relationships, it’s the product I cannot resist but that almost never ends well, and that Ikeep vowing to give up on. After a wild, heated phase full of unbrideld passion, red and dark lips leaving it’s mark everywhere, the love took a nosedive and fizzled out before Christmas… One of the things that soured the romance was how my previous attempts for long lasting colour completely dried out my lips. As much as I love a strong lip, I hate feeling that I have something on my lips (contradictory, I know…), and even more so, I hate dry lips with a passion. When the new Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl collection came onto my radar, I read “hydrating, nourishing lipsticks”, and thought “Mmmmmm, maybe….” Shortly put, the back story sounds great: 12 lipsticks, ranging from soft nudes to a bright fuchsia and even a deep black, enhanced with black rose oil for deep moisture, a silicon resin for a plumping …

Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Pencils

Something is changing! Not only the seasons are playing their yearly merry-go-round, my make up preferences have also slightly shifted focus. Literally, because where I loved playing up my eyes ever since I discovered make up, now some mascara and a swift flick of eyeline will do before the main act takes centre stage: my lips. From not even owning a single lipstick to having a complete drawer dedicated to it, it’s all about the lips these days! What triggered this lip-obsession? A love for the effortless and laid back Parisian chic look, not enough time every morning for a deluxe eye look and the realisation that less is more with a popping lip colour. Case in point, these Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Pencils! Lip pencils are having their moment right now, and who can blame them! Easy to use, a technicolour variety of shades and available for just about any budget. I’ve been testing these Jane Iredale Lip Pencils, and and if you want to know what I think ,just keep on reading. Jane Iredale …

Christmas lips

Christmas celebrations have truly begun now (big Christmas Eve dinner tonight at my house!) and whereas my two previous looks focused on the eyes, the lips deserve some attention as well! Not everyone might want to rock a bright lippie when you’re about to start a several course food feast (hello food coma!), but if you still want to put your lips in the spotlight tonight, these three beauties are here at your service! Let’s start with the softest option, the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur, a glossy, rich berry plum colour with a very fine sparkle that effortlessly glides onto your lips giving it a hunt of colour. If you want, you can build the colour a bit, but overall, it remains a beautiful bitten berry shade with a sheer and glossy finish. If your prefer a fresher colour, the Sisley Phyto Lip Shine in Sheer Papaya. Another weightless, sheer option, it might look bright orange in the bullet, but it transforms into a delicate coral onto the lips, which livens up your …
