Schwarzkopf Nature Moments

Hair… When it’s looking good, you’re on top of the world, when it falls flat, so do you. With the organic beauty movement still gaining momentum, our desire to go green, soil associated or natural for our  haircare, skincare and make just keeps on growing, and the people at Schwarzkopf understood that this was the perfect time to marry all natural ingredients to their know how and drugstore prices for a pontential triple win. The Schwarzkopf Nature Moments line is brand spankin’ new, pH neutral, contains extracts from 100% natural origin (quite a smart cliam this one, dancing around the 100% green and organic sourced nature of the ingredients) and consists of 5 sub lines , based upon different hair types and needs. The LLS family bathroom has seen some heavy rotation and rigourous testing , and all 5 lines have been tried, tested and assessed. Mediterranean Olive Oil & Aloë Vera AKA the family favourite!  Designed to tend to and nourish damaged hair without weighing it down, the olive oil puts the bounce and shine …

My Hair Has Gone Into Weekend Mode….

And so have I! After a few weeks of plainly tending to my hair, and giving it all it needs, I’ve been slowly thinking about styling it a bit, changing it up a bit. Now don’t go imagining elaborate updo’s or twisted braids, my hairdressing skills don’t exactly go further than messy waves or a top knot… Soft, tousled waves  have long seemed like an impossible dream—the hair equivalent of no-makeup makeup, appearing effortless, but more often than not, requiring a batallion of tools. However, these two recent discoveries have proven to be quite handy (see what I did there :-)) and not a tool in sight but a spritz, a crunch and my two hands. Step one is the Miriam Quevedo White Caviar White Glacial Leave-In Conditioner. Miriam Quevedo has already seen some love on this blog before (see here), and this new spray continues that love streak. A combination of oils (Camellia, Baobab and White Caviar), Vitamins and Hyaluronic Acid keep my tresses strong, bouncy, resilient and frizz free without weighing them down, …

Happy Go Lucky Hair with Murakami (and Shu Uemura)

Today is Monday, and though my mind and body seem to be aware a new workweek has started (#forevertired), my hair still seems to be in weekend mode. Fun, flirty, bouncy but with a mind of it’s own, not quite straight but not perfectly wavy either, too much frizz for it to be silky smooth. Neither this nor that seems to be the perfect way to describe it, but whatever name I give it, it won’t take away from the fact that it needs help. A lot of help When I started rummaging through my extensive collection of hair care for that much needed help, the Shu Uemura x Takashi Murakami Art of Hair Wonder Worker caught my eye. Literally, cause just look at that gorgeous print! Truth be told, I noticed the print before I realised it was a hair product. Win win! As a part of the Christmas 2016 Collection (shame on me for not showing this earlier!!), Takashi Murakami glorious anime-meets-pop-art floral print graces several Shu Uemura products, including the Art of Hair …

Susanne Kaufmann Hair Care

I’ve been unfaithful…. After promising myself last year to use mainly (and preferably only) organic hair and skincare, as I noticed firsthand what an amazing effect it had on my skin and hair, I slacked, big time. And I have the (terribly poor) results to show for it. Botchy skin and haystack hair is my current look *not so pretty in the morning…* Back to nature, literally! Time to draw up an action plan and get my butt into gear (lazy person here!!). I threw out all the lab made, semi industrial shampoo’s (ie I let my husband finish them… ) and binned all of the conditioners and masks with an ingredient list that has me going “no no”, instead of “go go”. What remained? Very very little, I must admit… I dove into my still to try-stash, and went looking for the Susanne Kaufmann duo I knew I still had to try. Susanne Kaufmann is a no nonsene, all natural brand that I tried and loved before (see here),  so when I rediscovered the Susanne …

Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry

All that glitters ain’t gold, but when it comes to my hair, I’d go for that shine every day! As a woman with long and thick hair, blow drying my tresses every two or three days is a necessity if I want to avoid a frizz fest (and even then!), but let’s be honest, it’s hard work!  Without the help of my trusty hair dryer, may hair may fall straight down, not a wave or curl in sight, but it also looks dull and frizz rules supreme! Not my best look! Haircare is probably the beauty bit where I am least faithful, I mix and match with whatever I have standing in my bathroom at that moment, and will happily use a shampoo of brand A with a conditioner or mask from brand B or C. This is turning out to not be the best way to treat my hair, as it has looked way better in the past. Time to step it up and get my tresses glowing again. In the meantime, I’ve been …

Miriam Quevedo Haircare

There’s a new kid on the haircare block, and she flew in straight from Spain. A while ago, I caught word about a hair scrub, and instantly, I was über curious. I  just can’t help myself, I had a good hair routine going, and still, my inner beauty discovery addict took over and I had to give it a go! Miriam Quevedo is a hair care brand setting it’s first steps into the European market after having conquered it’s native Spain, and as a brand, they’re all about luxurious haircare without all that’s bad for your hair, such as mineral oils, parabens, phtalates and surfactants (to make shampoo’s lather). Back to the Exfoliating Scalp Mask, cause this bottle triggered this whole new brand obsession! A scrub for your scalp, in the disguise of a mask. Sounds a lot like skincare! If you suffer from itchiness, dandruft, a greasy or overly dry scalp, chances are that this is a caused by a scalp that is out of balance. An overdose of styling products, nor matter how …

L’Oreal Professional Pro Fiber Recover To The Rescue

My hair is a mess! There, I said it. Two pregnancies, too many colour jobs and almost daily hairdryer blasts have left it in a dry, brittle, unmanageable state that have my mum comparing it to neon straw (thank you mum!!). Needless to say, I need to fix it or chop it, and since I don’t want to say goodbye to my lovely long bob, I’m going into full restore mode, head first! Joining me on this hair-restore mission is L’Oréal Professionnel, whose newest line, L’Oréal Professionel Pro Fiber is about to change this hair-saving game! With all the abuse, heat styling, swift brushing and environmental pollution we put our locks through, the hair fibres weaken and become prone to brittleness and breakage. Described as “a professional treatment to combat multi levels of damage, depending on hair types”, the Pro Fiber Line consists of three ranges, Pro Fiber Rectify for light and damaged hair, Pro Fiber Recover for medium damaged hair and Pro Fiber Reconstruct for thick, coloured and heavily damaged hair (that means mine!). If desired, you can start …

Thickening up my tresses with Aveda Thickening Lotion

We all know the feeling, when your hair looks the part, you can run the world, and it falls flat, well, so does your day. A hairdo, good or bad, is such an intrinsic part of how we feel that day, and hair not behaving like you want it to is truly disheartening. My hair always been badly behaved, I may have been spared of the cuse that is fine hair, but because it is so thick, and there is so much of it, it is also bloody heavy! My locks fall flat under their own weight, it starts out like the perfect soufflé, but implodes after an hour or so. A lot of swishing, but not in an elegant, whoosing, movie-star slo-mo kind of way. I must have tried every brand under the sun in my quest for a thickening or strengthening spray, and where one was too sticky, number two created a Beetlejuice-type of hairdo (more like a hairdon’t!) and the third one was a real dud! When the Aveda Thickening Lotion* made it’s …

Balmain Hair Care – Part 2

Luxury and LeenLovesStyle, they go together like peas in a pod. A few months ago I already spoke of wanting to try the Balmain Hair Care range, and guess what… The allure of Haute Couture Hair and K’s raving about this range proved to be too much, so I gave in. The Balmain Moisturing Line Gift Set made it’s way towards me not long after my previous article, and I’ve been testing it ever since. The Moisture Line Gift Set contain the Moisturizing Shampoo, The Moisturizing Conditioner and the Repair Mask. A triple moisturizing threat for my manes, but did it really give me that shiny effortless chique hair of the Parisian woman that I craved? The entire Moistuzizing line is built upon the strenghts of argan oil and silk protein , it aims to be deeply nourishing, revitalizing and softening for both natural and coloured hair. Additional UV filters, heat- and colour protectors are designed to keep our hair silky smooth, supple and shiny. But what did my full head of sun-bleached tresses think …

Garnier Mythical Olive

It’s every woman’s dilemma, your make up and outfit can be your best ever, but as long as your hair is a frizzy disaster or a greasy, flat mop, there’s no looking your best. No better buzz killer than bad hair. Unlike with some other beauty categories, the fanciest and most expensive shampoo’s aren’t always the best. Garnier  has always been one of those brands that everyone grew up, who doesn’t remember those commercials about their kiddie apricot shampoo? Latest addition to their Ultra Doux family is the Mythical Olive range, a Mediterranean secret in a bottle for dry and brittle hair. Will it be as good for my hair as it is for my aperitif? Virgin olive oil apparently does not only work wonders in the kitchen, it’s high dose of nutritious and softening powers is supposed to turn your hair from straw to silk, from shabby to shiny. If it worked for the ancient Greeks, I figured it should also work for me, and treated my hair to a pampering session with the …
