Summer and a full face of make up don’t really match. Sweat streaked foundation, blotchy bronzer, runny mascara, been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I hardly wear any make up in the summer, my collection just gets to gather dust in my vanity during these months, but on days where I need a little touch up before a meeeting, here’s what I go for. Philosophy’s No Reason To Hide still is my light base of choice. All in one go, it evens out my skin, adds a touch of radiance and adds in the SPF50 I need. A little dab of Giorgio Armani Eraser Concealer covers those traces of a long night, with the Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara in Black Satin to take my eyes from “just awake” to “here’s where the magic’s at!” Jane Iredale’s Golden Shimmer is the ideal highlighter on days like today. Perfumes may come and go, especially with us beauty bloggers, but some enchant us so much that they remain a constant force in our fragrance collection. Like your favourite sweater or blanket, it offers warmth and comfort like nothing else.  Givenchy Ange ou Démon Le Secret is that safety  net for me, a touch of coming home with each sniff. Love at first whiff made me curious about the other fragances in the Ange ou Démon family, but where the original fragrance is just so-so on me, the latest embodiement of the Givenchy woman, Givenchy Ange ou Démon Le Parfum & Accord Illicite*   is supposedly so audacious and on trend that I can’t help but be intrigued. All salacious clichés of what a woman’s sensuality is supposed to be and smell like aside, the new Givenchy Ange ou Démon Le Parfum is above all a new play on layering fragrances, a new way of wearing perfume that has gone maistream these last few years. All it took was one little tweet from Laura, and bam, I was in love! Hook, line and sinker! A crazy love obsession, one that any and every bag loving, tote obessed and clutch craving woman will understand!  Like the Copenhagen mermaid whispering my name, the Givenchy Antigona tote in Dusky Blue enchanted me with it’s softly textured goat leather and structural lines. Sleek and smart, thanks to several internal pockets, and with switchable shoulder straps and top handles to boot! The light, greyish blue gives it that elegant touch that just oozes Spring-appropriate, and it’s medium size looks equally at home in a meeting or meeting up with friends. As if I need another reason to justify saving up for it’s €1.590 price tag. Oh, and how cute is that Mini Antigona in yellow?

December staat weer voor de deur, en dat betekent een maand lang durende shopping spree  voor kerstcadeautjes voor heel de familie (echtgenoot, zucht), een zoektocht naar het perfecte kleedje voor al die feestjes, en boven al, een overdaad aan feestmake up. Alle grote merken komen met hun speciale kerstcollecties op de markt, en terwijl de ene van understated elegance houdt, kan je met de andere nog harder schitteren dan je kerstboom gevuld met mini discoballetjes! Kortom, hoe meer make up tijdens de feestdagen hoe meer vreugde. De dag zelf er feestelijk en pico bello uitzien, de dag erna alle sporen van het zware familiefeestje wegwerken, dat is de opdracht bij mij. En Givenchy slaagt daar wonderwel in! De Givenchy Christmas-collectie ‘Contes de Noël’ staat op een kruispunt tussen droom en verlangen, zoals Givenchy creative director Nicolas Degennes het zo mooi zegt.
