Also known as back to basics. Some days you just wake up, jumping for joy at the idea of doing a three or four shadow look, foundation, concealer, eyeliner, the whole shebang. Today is not that kind of day! Today, less is more rules the roost! My skin is in tip top shape, my under eye area is neither blue nor baggy for the first time in God knows when, and I am just loving that ‘no make up’ make up freshness at the moment. Today I took that even further, and took Casual Friday to another level, and streamlined my beauty essentials to the bare minimum. Not pictured, but a firm fixture is my favourites in the Givenchy Teint Couture Balm. I’ve raved and raved and ravved about this one before, so I won’t go into details, but I’m on tube nr 3 (tube nr 4 has already been bought…), and it’s been used so much the lettering has faded from the packaging…. A mascara? I can see you sitting there, reading this, saying to yourself “what can be said about a mascara?” A whole lot, if you believe the world wide beauty web out there! Mascara is one of those beauty items that ignites one discussion after another (drugstore vs high end, black vs brown, mascara vs lash tinting and so on), but also seems to be the prime beauty bit that is always evolving and infinitely improvable. A new wand, improved formula, an intenser black, curlier curl or a  bolder result than ever before. Like the perfect little black dress, the perfect mascara needs to work for you on all fronts. It needs to be the perfect shade to complement your eyes, sublimate you lashes with what they may lack and boost their strong suits. End of Summer Make Up Menu

My entire summer make up musings have consisted of my basically discarding almost all make up, a constant streamlining of my entire routine to the bare minimum *who am I kidding, I’m just downright lazy*. My three product make up look is pretty must the most often used look this summer, and even when I felt like stepping it up, I did not venture beyond one swipe of eyeshadow. Summer holiday make up (or lack thereof…)

The sun has been out and about in all of it’s crowning glory these last few weeks, and whenever that happens, my make up cravings completely dissolve into sweet nothingness. even the slightest hint of eyeshadow becomes too much to bear. Keeping that in mind, I challenged myself to pack only the bare minimum of make up for our summer trip, only allowing myself to take with that which I knew I would surely use. Turns out, I use extremely little make up on holiday (skincare on the other hand is quite a different story…). Here’s what travelled to France with me. Little clue: it’s not much…. Lipproducts and me, we’ve got this on-off relationship thing going on. The bad boy of my make up relationships, it’s the product I cannot resist but that almost never ends well, and that Ikeep vowing to give up on. “Show me your handbag and I’ll know all about you”. If you take one look at my handbag and it’s contents, and you’ll see immediately that I am a big control freak, and like to be prepared for just about anything that could happen. Less is more definitely does not apply to what I lugg around on a daily  basis, and while the exact content might vary from day to day, these are the absolute essentials I always need with me!
