Winter Bases

Also known as “The One That Was Supposed To Be Called Summer Bases But Evolved Into Winter Foundations” ( somehow I hardly wore any bases between May and October). Foundations and coverage have found their way back into  my make up stash, and these 4 bases have been tried and tested these last few months. Spoiler alert, there were 2 absolute winners, one that was just so-so, and one that turned out to be a complete no-no. First up, I went straight fo the Shiseido Waso Colour Smart Day Moisturizer. After originally dismissing this little tube as not being moisturizing enough for my Sahara dry skin,  I dug it back out a month or two ago and reintroduced it into my routine, but with a little twist. Instead of just going by its moisturizing mismatch with my skin, I started layering it over my Sukin Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin as a base, a little cover-up operation without having to go for a heavy hitter foundation or a glitter-ball, all too quick at disappearing BB/CC Cream, …

Summer Favourites

Summer really did flew by. Seems like only yesterday I was writing my June favourites post, fully intending to do one for July and one for August as well. Family issues took over, summer did not  feel like summer and before I knew it, September 1st had come and gone. However, there were a few products that I used (and repurchased) religiously these last two months, and it’s safe to say they’ve been crowned my summer favourites. I’ve gushed about the Avène Gentle Exfoliating Gel before (see this post), and described it as ‘gentle enough not to aggravate or strip my sensitive skin but efficient in it’s exfoliating ways’. It was inevitable that this was going to be one of my summer loves, it’s been repurchased, used, loved and recommended, and between this beauty and the Pixi Glow Tonic, I’ve got my exfoliation covered. Make up-wise, I’ve been loving the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Universal Tinted Gel, Rosy Cheeks and Lips (what’s in a name), and not much else. Remember how last year’s summer somehow …

June Favourites

6 months have come and gone, 2017 is halfway, and it’s time for something new on this blog! I’ve been blogging for over 4 years, and in all those years, I’ve never done of the great classics of beauty blogging, the ‘Favourites’ post. Never one to let something go by untried, I realised this was the perfect moment to line up my favourites as I discovered some exciting products! The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, I must admit, has been a favourite of mine for a long time (check this article!), and after a litle time apart, I fell in love with this golden beauty all over again. Nothing takes away my make up like this one, and not a dry skin-moment in sight. I’m on my 4th bottle, and nr 5 is already waiting it’s turn. All the next bits really are brand spankin’ new ones, pinky swear! It wouldn’t be the LeenLovesStyle favourites if it weren’t filled to the brim with skincare, and my skin has been particularly loving the Uriage Eau Thermale Water …

Soft Eyes

After a good few months of rocking a strong lip, I’ve slowly been venturing back into the world of eyeshadows. Electric blues and gold glitters still scare the bejesus out of me, but slowly but surely those soft taupe, sand and copper tones are popping up more and more in my daily make up look. Bourjois takes me straight back to my late teens, when I first started wearing make up behind my mum’s back and would sneak into my local beauty hall to buy their rond pots with my allowance. Fifteen years later, we seem to have come full circle. Last summer they released their Nude Remix combinations, and the golden sand that I first bought all those years ago made it’s way into my collection once more (Oh the memories!). Extra-ordinaire, combined with a touch of brown courtesy of Extra-vertie, is the perfect daytime combo of a nude golden hue with an added darker shade for extra depth. The days that I want to go for a bit more oomph, I’ll whip out …

Summer holiday make up (or lack thereof…)

The sun has been out and about in all of it’s crowning glory these last few weeks, and whenever that happens, my make up cravings completely dissolve into sweet nothingness. even the slightest hint of eyeshadow becomes too much to bear. Keeping that in mind, I challenged myself to pack only the bare minimum of make up for our summer trip, only allowing myself to take with that which I knew I would surely use. Turns out, I use extremely little make up on holiday (skincare on the other hand is quite a different story…). Here’s what travelled to France with me. Little clue: it’s not much…. Turns out, the bare minimum reallty is the bare minimum, because I ended up taking only three make up items with me. Not taking my mascara with me was a no go, so the Sisley So Curl Mascara got grabbed quicker than Imelda Marcos and a new pair of Louboutins. A deep, intense black colour, lashes that are instantly curled, thickened and lifted, it’s my flash wake-up trick every …

Face First With Givenchy

When Givenchy comes out with a new item, they usually come out swinging, with a buckload of of confidence and cool perfectly fitting their rock & roll heart! This time, will it  be a any different? Natural, glowing, lit-from-within skin still is one of the  hottest trends this year, and Givenchy is taking things up a notch with the recent release of the Givenchy Teint Couture Balm and the Teint Couture Concealer. Touted as the very first makeup-balm and a 2-in-1 “contouring” concealer, I couldn’t wait to dive in, face first! The texture of the Teint Couture Balm is the very first thing you notice, and honestly, it is hard to miss. A non greasy, creamy yet light liquid, that applies like a balm and almost feels like a touch of velvet to the skin. Big thumbs up for the texture and application, the balm almost seamlessly fuses with the skin, and their patented ‘Custom Correction’ starts to do it’s thing. Custom correction what?? Shortly put, the Teint Couture Balm contains the new Light & Blur complex made …

Guerlain Terracotta Terre D’Éte

I was discussing my ridiculous stash with one of my lesser-beauty-crazed friends, and she asked me one simple question: “Would I be able to survive without my entire cabinet, and just tone it down to only a handful of products, like her. And if so, what items would remain?” Mmmmm tough one. I ordered another drink, and throughout the rest of the afternoon, I mulled over that question. In the end, the answer was surprisingly simple. If need be, all I could not do without are a great mascara, a multifunctional concealer, and a killer bronzer. And when you say bronzer, you say Guerlain. Bronzer is one of those things where bigger is better, so when I first laid eyes in my latest bronzer addition, the Terracottta Terre D’Eté Tan Enhancing Bronzer*, hidden in it’s enormous white compact, I drew in a sharp breath. Giddy like a little child in a candy shop, I could not wait to get my hands on it! Guerlain are renowed for their bronzers (Have you ever tried their Terracotta …

Caudalie – Reigniting our love

About a year ago, smack bam in the middle of a raging love affair with Caudalie, I started testing the Caudalie Polyphenol C15 range*. Life at home with newborn and a toddler and more sleepless nights than should be allowed left me looking like my mum (sorry mum!), and let’s be honest, I’m not 21 anymore, so whatever anti-ageing and general boosting miracle you would have thrown at me, I would have caught with open arms! “Primary function of the line is to act as a super antioxidant, ie being a fierce protector against free radicals and a mighty oxidant booster, imperative to keep wrinkles at bay or under control.  Key ingrediënts for this powerplay are the grapeseed polyphenols, ie powerful molecules Caudalie extracts from their own grapes, and has been proven to be 10.000 times more effective than regular Vitamine E. Additionally, these polyphenols have been coupled with stabilised Vitamin C, so that the youth-preserving and protecting capacities of both ingredients are even intensified.” As you could read in my first write up (head on over for …

Wishlist Wednesday – Burberry Rocks The Espadrille

Burberry has always held a special place in my heart (even back when it was all tartan and no trend). The icon par excellence of all things British has gone from being a British upper class staple to becoming a worldwide trendsetter ( That monogrammed poncho! That heart-print blouse! The make up!). Each season, their collection enchants me in unexpected ways, leaving me lusting after something I never thought I’d want, and this summer, it’s no different. Espadrilles never really appealed all that much to me, not even when the Chanel ones were all the rage a few season ago. Sure, I do have a hot pink pair that I only wear at home, but actually combining them with a great outfit and go outside? Never! Fast forward to about a week ago, when A Burberry newsletter dropped into my mailbox, and my heart skipped a beat! I instantly fell in love! Head over heels, hook, line and sinker, you know the likes. Not a check in sight, the stripe or animal print just beg …
