End of Summer Make Up Menu

My entire summer make up musings have consisted of my basically discarding almost all make up, a constant streamlining of my entire routine to the bare minimum *who am I kidding, I’m just downright lazy*. My three product make up look is pretty must the most often used look this summer, and even when I felt like stepping it up, I did not venture beyond one swipe of eyeshadow. I’d love to be able to say that thing shave beeen looking up and I have started putting in more of an effort since, but nooo, the summer of beauty laziness is still in full force! *sorry not sorry* These last few weeks have been jam-packed with meetings and filling in for other people, which basically meant a constant stream of people at my desk and a whole lot of stress and frustration to erase from face, so I altered my line up a bit to give it a bit more oomph, but still within the boundaries of my excessive don’t want to put in an ounce …

Single Swipe Sweeties

See what I did there? A little alliteration to get the weekend started… Anyone else that gets overly excited about word puns and language trickeries? No? Just me? Anyway, the weekend is almost upon us, and while theoretically it’s stills summer, that Autumn weather outside has me thinking otherwise. As a result, I’ve been slowly easing back into wearing a bit more make up than my 3 product look I’ve been rocking these last few months, and these Dior single eyeshadows have been just the ticket! Single swipe / easy application eyeshadows are my favourite, during the week I just don’t have the time to layer different shades into a complete dramatic look *those 10 minutes extra in bed make a world of difference!*, and during the weekends I tend to go for even less make up. Parties and nights out are a rare occasion, so all my palettes are being severly neglected at the moment. These two Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow beauties on the other hand, are getting a lot of airplay! The golden hue …

Matchy matchy with Dior

Sometimes, you just want to go against all of beauty’s rules and conventions, and just do whatever the hell you like. Case in point, heavy eyeshadow and lipstick or a good lashing of some 80’s vibrant blue eyeliner. I draw the line at lipliner that is darker than your actual lipstick though (or lipliner but no lipstick *oh the horror*). Friday, if you ask me, is the perfect day to stray a bit and go old school matchy matchy with my nails and lips. Lately I’ve been loving the latest two additions to my Christian Dior collection (which is getting rather extensive, ahem…), the Dior Addict Lipstick in Ultradior and the Dior Nail Lacquer in Ultradior. Both limited edition for this summer, both the exact same shade and both so drop dead gorgeous when used separately. Time to take these beauties to the next level, and go for a double dose of Ultradior. A few coats of mascara, a flick of black eyeliner, some creamy coral pink moisturizing goodness on my lips, and the exact …

Dior Sauvage – Not Just For Men

Unisex perfumes have always been my thing. If it is displayed in the male section, I’ll sneakily head over for a little whiff. Constantly turned off by most of the sweet and girly offerings known as female perfumes, I love it when a fragrance is headier, with a bit more body, and a less outspoken gender personality. Gotta keep everyone guessing, you know. Dior Fahrenheit 32 has been a favourite of mine for yonks (we go waaaaay back, Fahrie and me), and the Acqua Di Parma Colonia Ambra has been heating my skin up these last few months as well. Neither one can be pigeonholed as a clear male of female fragrance, and where my dress sense can only be described as decidedly feminine, my taste in scents is quite the opposite. Cue the new Dior male fragrance! Released with big fanfare earlier this year, Dior Sauvage is not only making a play to be the house’s next big male fragrance, but also to find it’s place in my carefully curated daily perfume collection. Not to …

Diorshow Mascara Gets a Makeover

I must have been one of the very few ladies out there that did not like the original Diorshow mascara. Somehow, my eyelashes and the original formula did not agree, so instead of long and luscious lashes, I was left with humpty and dumpty.  When it first launched in 2002, it was such a hit that retailers couldn’t keep it in stock, but after more than a decade of success, Dior Makeup’s creative director Peter Philips felt it was time for an update. Reformulations are always tricky, you risk changing that one ingredient or result that has everybody hooked on your product in the first place. Philips realized early on that one of the reasons the mascara is so loved is it’s big brush, so they did not touch that and focused on the formula itself. First up, the addition of fibers to the base, which adds richness to the lashes, instead of just length. It still takes a few coats to get a thick, full set of lashes, but whereas mine stayed short and stumpy …

A Cosmopolite Autumn, Thanks To Peter Philips And Dior

Peter Philips‘ first complete collection for Dior is here, and it is a stunner! After having bid his farewell to Chanel, Belgian make up maestro Peter Philips joined the ranks at Dior in March ’14 as Creative and Image Director, and finally we get to lay eyes (and lips and nails) on his vision for this Autumn! Drawing inspiration from the modern woman, in all her facets and ways, Mr Philips lets her play with colours and textures, allowing her to be strong and graceful at the same time. Dramatic when she wants to be, and light and bright the next day if she feels like it.  Aptly named Cosmopolite, the collection makes me want to be this cosmopolitan, elegant woman of the world! As always, the eyes have it, and in this case, our eyes are spoiled by a new creation, straight from Mr Philips’ hands! New in are the Dior Addict Fluid Shadows, a hybrid, liquid formula that, once applied, dries into a magnetic finish with an enamel look. A gorgeous mono that lasts …

An Office Worthy Make Up Menu

A day at the office might not be the best time to try that new gold eyeliner or show off those killer smokey eyes tricks you’ve got, but not wearing any make up when at work? That’s a no go! Secret is keeping it fresh enough so you’ll look awake and refreshed all day long, even after back to back meetings, but at the same time soft enough so that your colleagues can focus on what you’re saying, and not the warpaint on your face. Step one, the new Avène Hydrance Optimale Skin Tone Perfector Rich. After all the BB, CC, DD cream fails of the past year, this one takes it back to basics or me. Hydration, an SPF 30, light reflecting  and soft focus particles for that summer-y hint of colour, I like! A little touch of the Dior Diorskin Nude Air loose powder sets everything in place, and the NARS Douceur blush is the blush numero une for an invisible perk-me-up boost. Next up, the eyes. My Dior quintet in Amber Design is …

Dior Tie Dye Collection SS15 – Love at first sight

Summer seems to be kicking it up a notch outside, but my skin doesn’t seem to be following just yet! In need of that lightly sunkissed touch, I’ve been looking at all the new Spring/Summer collections, but in all honesty, I’ve been too mesmerized by the Dior Tie Dye Collection to notice anything else. A beautified re-interpretation of the seventies-esque spirit of the tie-dye fashion, Dior created beauty out of the hippie fashion favourite. Shades of coral, pink, mauve, jade, sandy beige and amber bronze fade into one another like a beachy sunset. More Saint Tropez than Woodstock, the promotional images are more than dream-worthy, and now that the collection is out, I’ve been lusting after it’s pieces even more! Up high on my wishlist are the two Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye Blush Harmony powders. Pink Sunrise and Coral Sunset are both limited editions, and they could not be swoon-worthier! A touch of wun for your face, these light up your complexion as if you’ve just returned from a long weekend on the French Riviera. Complemented perfectly by …
