Merry Christmas

That crisp, freezing chill in the air these last few mornings bore promise that the most wonderful time of the year really has arrrived, and that there really is nowhere else to be than inside with your loved ones!  Today is Santa’s Day, so there is no content creating, beauty blogging or plain old babbling happening over here! I am hosting my family for a Christmas dinner today, and am beyond excited (and stressed!) However, I still wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, whoever and wherever you are! The end of year is always a reflective, nostalgic time, and while I could spend hours dwelling on 2017, I look towards 2018 with a sense of purpose, determination, love and utter gratefulness for all that I have in my life!  May you have a splendid Christmas filled with lights, love and laughter! A Merry Everything and a Happy Always from my family to yours!

Wanted: Christmas Inspiration

Christmas is in the air, and I am just bursting with excitement! I am beyond ready to deck the halls, decorate the tree and jingle all the way till Boxing Day! Much to my husband’s despair, I love going with a theme each, and after going red and gold these last few years, I feel torn this time. Red and gold really exudes that ultimate Christmas feeling of warmth, festivity and togetherness, but somehow I am also drawn to that crisp, fresh white Scandi Christmas feel (maybe I’ll keep that hint of gold)… On top of that, I am hosting the Christmas dinner this year and I took almost a fortnight off from work to be at home with the kids, so my mind is just bubbling with ideas, inspiration and recipes. All that’s left now is to create some order in the chaos that is my brain, and see where my hours spent procrastinating on the ingenious trap that is Pinterest will lead me… Pics via Pinterest

Counting Down To Christmas

That crisp, freezing chill in the air this morning bore promise that the most wonderful time of the year really is just around the corner. While those 4 candles in the Advent Wreath might be a touch too dangerous with my two mini’s blazing through the house, if there’s anything that could get them equally enthousiastic about Christmas as their mum, it’s their own Lego Advent countdown calendar. Excited feet pussyfooting from their beds to mine every morning, enthousiasticly tearing open that day’s surprise (and only keep it to that one per day), and after that breathless gasp of surprise, a joyous while spent playing before the morning rush starts. It’s beginning to look a lot like Chistmas…

Merry Christmas

Today is Santa’s Day, so there is no blogging happening over here! However, I still wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, whoever and wherever you are! The holidays are always a reflective, nostalgic time, and while I could spend hours dwelling on 2015, I look towards 2016 with a sense of purpose, determination and utter gratefulness for all that I have in my life, including you sweet readers! A Merry Christmas fom my family to yours, we hope you get to spend it with your loved ones! May you have a splendid Christmas filled with lights, love and laughter! I’ll see you after the food coma!

Guerlain Neiges et Merveilles

Snow and a winter wonderland seem to be inspiring more than one Christmas Make Up Collection. After Givenchy’s Les Nuances Glacées, Guerlain also draws inspiration from gistening snowflakes twirling the night air, revealing an icy beauty. The Winter Fairy Tale Holiday 2015 Collection (Neiges et Merveilles) focuses on taking your skin fom dull to radiant, for that much desired lit-from-within glow. I got to play with some of the products from the collection, and well, let’s  just say I’ve got my Christmas Eve base covered! After a touch up with what is still my favourite foundation, the Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Enchanté Skin-Perfecting Illuminating Matte Powder comes out to play. As contradictory as Illuminating Matte Powder might sound, this angelic white powder is billed as the perfect complexion in a compact. Resplendent in it’s weighty, shining silver enamel re-fillable compact, this  translucent matte white soft-focus pressed-powder blurs out fine lines and imperfections, so that no mater how heavy that Chistmas dinner, you’ll face will never show! Seen that porcelain isn’t exactly my colour, a soft touch of Guerlain’s …

Going Alessi for Christmas

The 6th of December has come and gone, so time to get the run-up to my pesonal highlight of the year started! A fully-fledged Chistmas lover, I’ve been wanting to break out my Christmas decorations for weeks now, and finally, I get to go all the way! Step one, lighting a gorgeously scented candle! Step two, Christmas tree and decorations galore! Step three, Instagram the jingle bells out of it! Those of you that have been reading this little corner of the blogosphere for a while (thank you so much for that, I love you all!), must already have noticed that I have a certain fondness for all things Alessi, case in point here and here! This year is no different, so when their newest Christmas tree ornaments were released, I could not get my hands on them quickly enough! Delightful, tongue in cheek and more Christmas’y than a Christmas jumper or the bad office party, these ornaments found their place in my tree quicker than you can say “kiss me under the mistletoe!”   …

Merry Christmas!

It’s Christmas Day, so just a quick post today. I hope you all had a festive Christmas Eve, filled with bubbly drinks, delicious food, sparkling lights, laughter and love! I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, regardless of what holiday you celebrate this season, it’s a time to come together, enjoy the company and warmth of your loved ones, share, care, eat, drink and be merry. Above all, it is also a time to be thankful and on that note, I really want to thank all you LeenLovesStyle readers for stopping by and reading my writings, commenting, little words of encouragement (you know who you are K) and so much more. As cheesy as it may sound, it means more to me than I can ever put in words, and is such an encouragement to keep this blog going, growing and just continue sharing my love for beauty, fashion and all this stylish with you all! So again, a very Merry Christmas from me and my family to to and your loved ones. We …

Christmas lips

Christmas celebrations have truly begun now (big Christmas Eve dinner tonight at my house!) and whereas my two previous looks focused on the eyes, the lips deserve some attention as well! Not everyone might want to rock a bright lippie when you’re about to start a several course food feast (hello food coma!), but if you still want to put your lips in the spotlight tonight, these three beauties are here at your service! Let’s start with the softest option, the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur, a glossy, rich berry plum colour with a very fine sparkle that effortlessly glides onto your lips giving it a hunt of colour. If you want, you can build the colour a bit, but overall, it remains a beautiful bitten berry shade with a sheer and glossy finish. If your prefer a fresher colour, the Sisley Phyto Lip Shine in Sheer Papaya. Another weightless, sheer option, it might look bright orange in the bullet, but it transforms into a delicate coral onto the lips, which livens up your …

Beautiful breathtaking burnished bronze for Christmas.

After yesterday’s soft look, time to kick it up a notch! A bronze eyeshadow is my go-to option for any kind of look really, with it’s endless variety from a golden patina over a gorgeous copper to a deep, burnished, almost blackened olive offering a myriad of possibilities. If yesterday’s look was a bit too soft, run of the mill, everyday option for you, but you’re still too scared to go anywhere near that Chanel Mirifique (no worries, that makes two of us), thiseasy to achieve look might just be the ticket for you. Key here is to use creamy textures to ensure longevity, and somehow, a bronze colour somehow works better in a non powdery version. First off, the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance Bronze is the perfect start for this look, it lightens and freshens up my look by adding that much needed touch of colour. More of  “a week in Saint Tropez” glow than “tanning bed addict”, this primer might look scarily brown in the tube, but has a beautiful, almost halo-like glow …
