Monday Make Up

Another weekend has come and gone, and what lies ahead is a week filled with boring meetings, tight deadlines, excel sheets, mails and numbers. The weekend flew by, and to say that it was a busy one, is a major understatement. Two birthday parties, a bbq, friends, family, a battalion of toddlers and maybe a glass of bubbles too many… My face is showing on the outside how I feel on the inside (hint: not that fabulous…), so I popped out a few helpers to make me look half decent. The Sisley Sisleÿa Le Teint Foundation in 0R Vanilla needs no explanation (just check the archives for an astonishing amount of love for this brand and it’s foundations…). Many have tried, but never succeeded as the Sisley foundations continue to reign supreme in my collection. A soft touch of the Sothys Radiance Blush in Nuit Orangée as the perfect pick-me-up shade, but as this soft, satinesque powder is heavily pigmnted, I have to go in with a gentle hand. The eyes have it, but not too …

A Little Spring Wishing

Aka my weekend shopping list…. Spring is in the air, and I feel like shedding those dark winter tones and step into the blush and camel hints of those rays of that perfect soft first Summer light. The perfect shirt dress accompanied by the ultimate pair of high heeled sandals, a classic pair of glasses with a twist, a swish of powdery sunshine on my cheeks and a hint of coral to mak my lips pop. A few finishing touches in  the form of a sleek bag and stunning delicate earrings, and I am ready to fully savour that first Spring lunch al fresco, ginger ale in hand and the sunshine on my face! One last hurrah at the beach with Bobbi Brown

Some fragrances come, some go just as quickly, and every once in a blue moon, you find yourself falling in love with a sent, spritz after spritz, so that it remains a staple in your morning ritual, bottle after bottle after bottle. Ever since it’s launch in 2009, Bobbi Brown Beach has been of of those fragrantic loves for me, making me long for sultry summer days that seemingly go on forever in wintertime, and making me cherish the afternoon summer sun on my skin on a perfect, hot day at the waterside with friends and family. One little spritz is all it takes to go back to the beach, with it’s notes of sea spray, sand jasmine and mandarin creating a luscious, sweet yet salty scent that just makes you feel the salt in the air, the sand under your feet and the sun on your skin. The only little peeve I have with this fragrance is that it doesn’t last overly long on me, it disappears after a few hours, so I need …

Whether you celebrate loving yourself, your friends, your loved ones or that one better half, love comes in all different shapes and sizes, and if anything, it gives you that beautiful, lit from withing glow that just exudes happiness. This season, make up maven Bobbi Brown presents her Illuminating Nudes collection, a series of products that places the glow at the tip of your fingers, whether you want to go nude (but not quite) or go slap-happy. A glowy, healthy looking skin hardly needs anything else, so it makes sense that the prime product of the collection would be the Extra Illumination Moisture Balm. The ones I just can’t do without!

We all have our favourites. you know, those products that get used far more than any other, the ones you just can’t do without, the ones that are that failsafe option for those moments you’re in a rush, feeling insecureor plainly uninspired. Despite the overflow of make up in my bathroom drawers (I’ve got enough colours to paint rainbows till the end of times), these are the beloved, the ones I’ll never be able to do without. Repurchase guaranteed! Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base: My primer numero uno! Not necessarily intended as a primer by the hotshots at Clinique, but this fluid keeps my redness at bay whilst at the same time making my make up last longer than a snow cone on the North Pole. Double win! Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara and Bobbi Brown Corrector in Bisque: At any given time, you’ll find 3 or 4 mascara’s in my make up bag, but this one takes the cake. Intense ink-black colour, va-va-voom volume and the perfect curl make my eyes look like …

Beautiful breathtaking burnished bronze for Christmas.

After yesterday’s soft look, time to kick it up a notch! A bronze eyeshadow is my go-to option for any kind of look really, with it’s endless variety from a golden patina over a gorgeous copper to a deep, burnished, almost blackened olive offering a myriad of possibilities. If yesterday’s look was a bit too soft, run of the mill, everyday option for you, but you’re still too scared to go anywhere near that Chanel Mirifique (no worries, that makes two of us), thiseasy to achieve look might just be the ticket for you. Key here is to use creamy textures to ensure longevity, and somehow, a bronze colour somehow works better in a non powdery version. First off, the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance Bronze is the perfect start for this look, it lightens and freshens up my look by adding that much needed touch of colour. More of  “a week in Saint Tropez” glow than “tanning bed addict”, this primer might look scarily brown in the tube, but has a beautiful, almost halo-like glow …

A soft look for Christmas

If you’re anything like me, you just love to plan everything. Christmas decorations need to have a theme, table decorations need to match that theme, your Christmas outfit has been chosen long in advance, and even make up looks are contemplated well up front. Not everyone always wants to go all out with a smokey eye so glam the Christmas Tree looks rather dishevelled next to you, but if you want to keep it simple yet elegant, my soft-lit look might just be what you’re looking for. First things first, start by prepping your base with the Clinique Universal Superprimer to keep it looking extra fresh, extra long. Buff in the Sisley Phyto Teint Expert All Day Long Foundation until you’ve got the coverage you prefer, and then finish off by covering those pesky dark circles and red spots. My weapons of choice for that? The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and the Bobbi Brown Corrector. A very light dusting of the Bourjois Java Rice Powder delicatly illuminates skin without looking like a disco ball, a …

Brighten, Sparkle & Glow thanks to Mrs Bobbi Brown
