50 shades of white to calm my mind

This morning’s Instagram picture says it all, when it comes to what I dream about what I’d love my ideal home interior to look like, soft tones of grey and a hint of colour keep popping up in an otherwise almost virgin-esqye white surrounding. A place to come home to after a day of meetings and where you can just mentally disconnect from all the stress, where everything just oozes calmth. For now, with two toddlers running, jumping and meddling around, it will best remain a moodboard and smorgasbord of ideas, but the moment my two little mosters stop spilling their food and drinks everywhere, this post will be prime inspiration for that major interior overhaul! Me Time

A while ago there was a campaign from Swedish Mammoth Ikea asking us about our ultimate Me-Time moments. With two children, a full time job, a hobby I refuse to give up (that would be this little thing right here you’re reading right now, for which I thank you very much!), Me-Time moments are a rare occurrence, but sometimes even I manage to switch off, and that’s thanks to my ultimate 3 me-time moments: 1. A mask a day Or any kind of beauty moment by extension. Any moment where I can squeeze in a little beauty action is a good moment! Whether an extensive face mask routine (triple threats are the way to go!), a cleansing, face massage quickie to end my day, doing my nails or glamming up my otherwise bare naked face, it brightens my mood and eases the stress. Frontunner in this category remains that pure moment of spoiling yourself that is a visit to your favourite hairdresser. The chit chat, the head massage, the capable fingers of the hair stylist colouring, …

Narciso Rodriguez A/W 15

I am not a professional fashionblogger by any means, but that doens’t mean that a) I don”t follow fashion and the endless caroussel of fashion weeks, and b) I don’t like to put in my 2 cents. As I must have told you over and over again (thank you so much for sticking with me!), I am not one for fuss and frills , Italian exuberance, fireworks and tropical prints have never been my cup of tea,  I’d rather be the woman supplying the oohs and aahs to the outfit I’m wearing than being the lady drowning in an overflow of prints. Narciso Rodriguez, maestro of American femininity, understands this better than anyone else. Clean lines, sleek cuts and perfect fits make for striking pieces that are so ridiculously pretty that you cannot help yourself, you just have to stop, breathe and take it all in. Prime example: his A/W 15 show  at New York Fashion Week. Coinciding with the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, his catwalk may have been less sparkling than the fireworks, but …

Mummy’s little helpers – how to look good, even after hardly any sleep.

Chances are that I look like a wreck at the moment. Beauty blogger or not, a lack of sleep has this way of causing havoc on your skin and appearance, and no one knows this better than mothers! My two little munchkins have been messing up my nightly dose of zzzzzzz’s lately, and my skin and eyes (Bags down to my knees! Red, blotchy, grainy skin!) are showing for it! However, I have a few little tricks up my sleeve that jolt my skin right back into thinking it had a full night’s sleep, after a comforting mug of ginger & lemon tea and a bowl of organic yoghurt with blueberries and some apple spiced walnut muesli, these lifesavers come out to do their job! The Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is a longtime love of mine, if soulmates came in beauty products, this would be mine! A few drops after my serum and before my moisturizer perk my skin right up, adding the necessary moisture, nourishment and calmth while providing the Vitamin A that boosts …

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Nudes Collection

Who needs a corny Valentine’s Day box of chocolates when you have the delightful Bobbi Brown to lighten up your day? Whether you celebrate loving yourself, your friends, your loved ones or that one better half, love comes in all different shapes and sizes, and if anything, it gives you that beautiful, lit from withing glow that just exudes happiness. But who says you can’t help (aka fake) that glow a little bit? This season, make up maven Bobbi Brown presents her Illuminating Nudes collection, a series of products that places the glow at the tip of your fingers, whether you want to go nude (but not quite) or go slap-happy. A glowy, healthy looking skin hardly needs anything else, so it makes sense that the prime product of the collection would be the Extra Illumination Moisture Balm. Creamy, iridescent and smooth like verlvet to the touch, this hydrating cream can be used as a day cream, a highlighter or an extra touch and is designed, as the name says, to taken even the ashiest, …

Little washes of colour – Loving MAC All That Glitters and NARS Andromeda

Sometimes you just don’t feel like slapping on a full face of make up, but going barefaced won’t cut it either -you know, those days when naked face equals scary face. I often have those days, sometimes because I really don’t  feel like faffing about, and sometimes because my morning routine is so damn hectic that I end up drinking my coffee whilst doing my skincare thing and taking my breakfast to work with me (2 kids to dress and feed, one school run, one daycare stop and a drive to work make for stressy mornings…). Going barefaced is one step too far when I have to go to work or meetings, so that’s when these two little chaps come out to play. After covering my bases with a little dab of the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation and the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer, I usually go straight for the two littlest pots in my collection  (size isn’t everything you know :-)), MAC All That Glitters and NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Andromeda for that little wash …

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, regardless of what holiday you celebrate this season, it’s a time to come together, enjoy the company and warmth of your loved ones, share, care, eat, drink and be merry. So again, a very Merry Christmas from me and my family to to and your loved ones. We …

Christmas lips

Christmas celebrations have truly begun now (big Christmas Eve dinner tonight at my house!) and whereas my two previous looks focused on the eyes, the lips deserve some attention as well! Not everyone might want to rock a bright lippie when you’re about to start a several course food feast (hello food coma!), but if you still want to put your lips in the spotlight tonight, these three beauties are here at your service! Let’s start with the softest option, the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur, a glossy, rich berry plum colour with a very fine sparkle that effortlessly glides onto your lips giving it a hunt of colour. If you want, you can build the colour a bit, but overall, it remains a beautiful bitten berry shade with a sheer and glossy finish. If your prefer a fresher colour, the Sisley Phyto Lip Shine in Sheer Papaya. Another weightless, sheer option, it might look bright orange in the bullet, but it transforms into a delicate coral onto the lips, which livens up your …

Autumn Favourites

These first few weeks of Autumn have passed, and after all those months of t-shirts, skinnies, shorts, tops and silk shirts, we are all desperate to slip into our winter gear, wishing to be wrapped in cashmere, wool or leather whilst sipping Pumpskin Spice Lattes, hot chocolate and mulled wine. We want to rejoice in our structured coats and wave goodbye to bikinis (until the thick of Winter when we can all start complaining about the cold and long for Spring.), enjoy that thought process of layering, fall in love with that perfect soft knit and hunt for that perfect coat (one for each occassion of course!). Rich colours such as oxblood, camel, sage and navy, paired with black and white remain classics that are true troopers when it comes to compatabilty (hello cost per wear!), so they’ll be staples for years to come. A shearling jacket with a peplum twist, a gorgeous leather pencil skirt, a hipster pair of ankle boots or the comfiest over the knee boots out there, a few well selected …
