Back to blogging?

Hey there! How are you? It’s been a while, I know. Who would have thought? How a worldwide quarantine tricked me out of my blogging confinement.  A whole year has come and gone, a new one has started once more (and what a year 2020 has been up to now). I’ve been away for quite a while, and I’d love to reconnect with you. My lastpost dates back to December 2018, and I kind of hit a wall around that point. In the months prior, I had been running myself ragged, stressing and fretting constantly, not only about life or work, but especially about blogging. Inspiration had flown straight out of the window, that love and passion seemingly evaporated and all but lost, and I just did not want to blog anymore. Sounds crude, I know, but if I’m being completely honest, that’s exactly what it was. I just did not feel like blogging anymore. The ever-changing nature of blogging, Social Media and PR had thrown me for a loop, especially the whole (Instagram) Influencer …

Schwarzkopf Nature Moments

Hair… When it’s looking good, you’re on top of the world, when it falls flat, so do you. With the organic beauty movement still gaining momentum, our desire to go green, soil associated or natural for our  haircare, skincare and make just keeps on growing, and the people at Schwarzkopf understood that this was the perfect time to marry all natural ingredients to their know how and drugstore prices for a pontential triple win. The Schwarzkopf Nature Moments line is brand spankin’ new, pH neutral, contains extracts from 100% natural origin (quite a smart cliam this one, dancing around the 100% green and organic sourced nature of the ingredients) and consists of 5 sub lines , based upon different hair types and needs. The LLS family bathroom has seen some heavy rotation and rigourous testing , and all 5 lines have been tried, tested and assessed. Mediterranean Olive Oil & Aloë Vera AKA the family favourite!  Designed to tend to and nourish damaged hair without weighing it down, the olive oil puts the bounce and shine …

IKKS x K-Way

Oh how I remember the fashion from my childhood!  More nightmare-ish than stylish, the 80’s and 90’s were not exactly the height of sophistication, and, as my mum likes to remind me every.single.time we go shopping together for kids’ clothes, “There were just no cute clothes back then”. Case in point, that dreadful K-Way every kid wore to school on rainy days. A plastic fantastic example of colourblocking till your eyes hurt, and when not needed, it became a fanny pack-esque belt that flipped up and down each time you took a walk. Never in a million years did I think about getting my kids one. Till earlier this week… In the corner of my eye I saw a kids’ coat flashing by on my screen, all exuberant in it’s monochromatic beauty and urban cool. Cue my surprise when I discovered it was the latest K-Way offering! Digging a bit deeper led me to discover that IKKS had married their French Rock Chic vibe to K-Way’s iconic Claude 2.0 for a limited edition unisex model. …

Everyday handbag essentials

“Show me your handbag and I’ll know all about you”. If you take one look at my handbag and it’s contents, and you’ll see immediately that I am a big control freak, and like to be prepared for just about anything that could happen. Less is more definitely does not apply to what I lugg around on a daily  basis, and while the exact content might vary from day to day, these are the absolute essentials I always need with me! Bobby pins and elastic bands for my hair are a no brainer, I love wearing my hair down but can not stand it falling in front of my eyes when I’m working on my laptop… A lip balm is a year round necessity as well, the Kenzoki Balm for Lips to Kiss is a new discovery that has my lips loving it. A transparant, hydrating, buttery texture that sinks in easily, perfect for on-the-go touch ups. Another Kenzoki favourite is the Kenzoki Cream with a Sheen, for those moments my skin needs some extra …

Summerproof

Summer and a full face of make up don’t really match. Sweat streaked foundation, blotchy bronzer, runny mascara, been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I hardly wear any make up in the summer, my collection just gets to gather dust in my vanity during these months, but on days where I need a little touch up before a meeeting, here’s what I go for. Philosophy’s No Reason To Hide still is my light base of choice. All in one go, it evens out my skin, adds a touch of radiance and adds in the SPF50 I need. A little dab of Giorgio Armani Eraser Concealer covers those traces of a long night, with the Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara in Black Satin to take my eyes from “just awake” to “here’s where the magic’s at!” Jane Iredale’s Golden Shimmer is the ideal highlighter on days like today. I gently appply some on the apples of my cheeks, and the soft golden sheen scumpts them a little, without being too orange. Not a chunk of glitter in …

This week (May 4 – 8) is the week of the melanoma (and even more of the fight against it), and the importance of checking your skin never was any bigger! A little skincheck a day hopefully keeps the cancer away, as 90% of skin cares that are detected in an early stage can be fought and cured. So please keep an eye on your own skin and the one of your loved ones, lather yourself and everyone around you in sunscreen, and go easy on your skin, we only have one. Become a Skinchecker, save a life!

That First Esprit Summer Feeling

Every morning is the same story at my house. After a frantic morning rush to get the 2 littles ones ready (Mr B has to fend for himself :-)), I sprint upstairs with about 5 minutes to spare to get myself dressed. Often lacking inspiration and pressed for time, I find myself constantly reaching for the same uniforms, which also means that about half of my closet remains untounched. Additionally, with the weather teethering on the edge between winter and summer clothes, and  having just started a new job with a completely different, less business appropriate dress code (ie we can wear whatever we friggin’ want…), I’m in a style rut at the moment. Not good at all… Hold this thought! A while ago, the unthinkeable happened. I had the entire afternoon to myself. No wee ones needing to be entertained, husband off with plans of his own, so after having photographed anything and everything that needed it’s picture taken, I started having some fun. In one corner: some of the basics in my closet. In the …

Wishlist Wednesday: Me + Em

Comfortable Luxury and Effortless Elegance. When a brand is described with those tag lines, I am all ears! No one seems to have this whole understated cool yet feminine and stylish yet not too over the top down to a t like the British (Baukjen, Jaeger, Reiss, Whistles, I’m looking at you!), and when I discover a new brand that fits that bill, my obession levels rise to an all time high! Case in point: ME + EM. Founded by Clare Hornby after a career in advertising, the brand focuses on her belief that less is more and is keen on providing quality lifestyle driven clothing for that effortless 24/7 chic we all seek. Perfectly blending high quality fabrics such as fluid jerseys, smooth silks and cosy cashmere knits with an obsessive focus on what ought to be the basics for every brand: a perfect cut, fit, comfort and finish. “I have always believed that what really distinguishes a desirable piece of clothing is the quality and durability of the fabric, the precision of the fit, the perfection of the …
