5 Things – Fading into Fall

Back from maybe never gone, but it’s time again to get a bit more personal and zoom in on the 5 things that have set my heart racing these last few weeks. Fashion and food is pretty much all I can think about these days *still too bleedin’ hot to even be thinking about a full face of make up*, so it may not come as a suprise that today’s 5 things are fashion heavy…. First up, travelling just got a lot more stylish thanks to this Bugaboo Boxer. Venturing into luggage and travel gear, this adaptable system by Bugaboo is straight up my alley with it’s modular, interlocking cases and sleek design. Perfect partners for city trips or short escapes away with the Boxer are this stunning Mango Shirt Dress and Cosia Cashmere Scarf (Cashmere, grey and Dutch, win win win!). A slick of the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Love Bite lipstick, aka the perfect red-hot lippie, and I am good to cruise into Autumn! Lastly, one of my favourite fashion brands made their colletions even more …

Taking my summer love into Autumn…

Aaaaaah Summer ’16. The summer that lasted an entire week, where at least half of my summer wardrobe did not even make it out of the closest due to a chronic lack of decent weather, and even more of my make remained unused. But above all, the summer of 16 will always be fondly remembered as the summer that I finally took the sartorial plunge. For years *I’m not kidding, I really do mean years…* I’ve been lusting, oooohing and aaahing over these long, swishy, sometimes pleated, sometimes blush coloured and always elegant long skirts, but for some reason I was always hesistant to actually buy one. Too tall, not exactly a single size figure, too much this, too little that, there was always something about my physical appearance that crossed my mind, clouded my thoughts and kept me from going for it! Well, not this year! I went for it, bought not one but two, and fell head over heels in love with long skirts! And now that summer is closing in on us, I …

Light as air

A while ago, I read a tagline fo an interior design article somewhere ‘Why light and airy rooms are even more popular than Scandinavian minimalism”, and somehow that just stuck with me. Because it’s true! No matter how I twist and turn it, no matter how I juggle around fancy names and aesthetics, purring how much I love a toned down, monochrome Scandinavian what’s not, light and airy will always be what  rings my deco loving heart’s bell. Come to think of it, when I dissect what exactly it is that makes an interior visually and emotionally pleasing, it all comes down to one thing: a flood of light streaming in, giving a room that airy, lighter than a feather look and feel. Sure, white will always be my main colour scheme, but when a white interior gets flooded by the sun, that’s when the magic happens… Pictures via Pinterest and Tumblr

Insta-Summer

Summer still is rather elusive over here (three days of warm weather in 1.5 months does not equal summer in my book!), and as a result, my inspiration is quickly plummeting as well! What better way to get for future posts than a little stroll through my past inspirations, aka my Instagram *Or as Mr B likes to call it, my annoying addiction…*? So, what has been inspiring me these last few weeks? By the looks of it, it would have to be shoes, red lips and all things monochrome, especially tea towels. Go figure!… Here are a few of my favourites! Have a great weekend, loves! Packing Strategies

Packing for four is not quite the same as packing for 2, the equasion of double the people, double the amount of stuff simply does not work. After two years and several holidays with our little family of four, I’ve developed a few packing strategies along the way that have made the whole proces easier and less stressfull. Strategy #1: Multifunctional products One soap that works for all 4 of us, an after sun that is rich enough to double as a body cream, one eyepalette that can create a myriad of looks and bronzer that can work as a powder, a bronzer or a blush… you get the gist, it’s all about products that have more than one function. Less products = more space Strategy #2: Mini’s for Mum’s skincare Mini’s can have a maxi impact on the size of my make up bag, especially when it comes to the skincare I want to take along for just myself. A lot of websites let you choose a few samples when you place an order …

Colouring their way around the world

Ooooooh summer. Hot days spent in pools; long endless night spent al fresco with friends…. But what to do when the weather isn’t all that great? How do we keep our kids happy and busy when all the Lego has been constructed, every puzzle has been made, each book has been read and it’s still raining outside? Time to travel the world without ever stepping outside. Makii, a Dutch brand created by two illustrators, sees every day as a blank canvas, a new possibility for kids to explore the world, go on an adventure and colou this blank canvas as they like! This colouring can be taken literally, as they just launched their new ‘Discover the world’ colouring books. A turbo sized blank canvas, a witty passport filled with  discoveries, fun facts and recipes, and hous of fun guaranteed. A is now colouring his way through America, next up is that milkshake recipe we need to try, and after that, we’ll travel on to a new country!

I came , I saw, I wish I conquered (but fell flat on my face due to exhaustion). Julius Caesar may have beaten me on the “conquered” part, but I saw a lot these last few weeks, and wanted to round up the highlights up for you. As you read this, I’m off enjoying some time off in La Douce France with Mr B and our mini me’s, so if you want to know how that’s going, make sure to follow my Instagram account (@leenstruyf) to see all of the hits and misses, and more importantly, my much desired visits to a French Pharmacy for their beauty and skincare sections! A smorgasbord of white

Sundays at casa LeenLovesStyle are for deco dreaming, and today is not an exception. Those who know me, are well acquainted with my special “deco dreaming map” on my phone, a visual smorgasbord of all that entices me and makes float away on a cloud of interior design inspiration. This goes from colour schemes, little trinkets to all over designs, from bathrooms to kitchens and from white to white and more white. hey, what did you expect? Here’s what caught my eye (and my phone) this week. Images via Pinterest and Tumblr

Summer Wishlist – The Kids Edition

My husband recently asked me if there ever was a reason not to shop for my little ones (when I tried to convince him that Little Miss C really needed that ultra-cute dress we just saw, and when I tried to make him forget about the other 10 dresses already hanging in her closet….). Sorry darling husband of mine, but let’s be honest, there is never not a reason to shop for our little ones! With summer finally approaching (let’s hope so!), I’ve been on the hunt for a few last minute additions to round out Little Miss C’s and Mister A’s wardrobes, let’s jump straight in, shall we? Coolness aplenty for A, this Six Hugs and Rock ’n Roll “Legends” number injects a serious dose of rock and roll; and the Petit Bateau x Keith Haring t-shirt gives his wardrobe an arty vibe. Add in a few pairs of streetsyle shorts, such as this antsy H&M one and this Stella McCartney Bix Surfer Tattoo army green pair. A pair of summer-y flip flops and this beach boy is ready! Little Miss C …

Insta Update

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind of late (and that’s an understatement…), and whoever said that it is easy for women to have it all, surely never has walked a day in a working mum’s high heeled pumps. I’ll stop the whining here, and just swiftly move on to the matter of today, a sneaky look into what I’ve been up to on Instagram these past few weeks. A little post, a lot of pictures, and there you are, back up to date! I drank, ate and double dated with some of our best friends, tried and tested a few beauty trinkets, and spent a bucket load of quality time with Mr B and our littles ones… Can you says bliss?
