Happy New Year!

2015 has come and gone, 2016 has begun, and so has all the fun! (See what I did there!). Even though the 1st of January is already behind us, I still wanted to take a little moment  before getting back into the swing of things. Before anything else, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support this past year! Every single read, like and comment (both on- and offline!) meant more to me than you’ll ever realize, and I am extremely grateful for each and every one of them.  2015 was a bit of a rocky year, both personally and on the blog, but a new year offers a chance to start afresh. Time to write that new chapter! For that new chapter, I would love your input! What do you want to see more or less of on LeenLovesStyle? Less beauty? Or even more beauty? Increase the fashion dose? Or maybe inject a bit more lifestyle? Maybe a bit more structure? Let me know …

A Gin Fueled Instagram Diary

Let’s try something new and fun today, shall we? I don’t really refer to my social media feeds very often here (but please, do feel free to follow my Twitter and Facebook), but seeing that I love a good Instagram Diary from other fab bloggers, I thought it would be fun to do one myself and see how it goes. Another quick peek in my life, or at least the fun bits, cause no one wants to see me doing my day  job or slave away at home. Time to get into weekend-mode! Last weekend was a delightfully relax and at times sunny, and I enjoyed it to the fullest. A lazy afternoon in the garden with the kids, a spot of shopping, and to top it all off, a gin-tonic afficionado’s highlight of the year, the annual Gin Fair. Mr B and I made it a date in the shadow of the MAS, and being the addict that I am, I Instagrammed the shizzle out of it. A lot of old friends (Hi there …

Hendrick’s Quinetum

A true Gin Tonic revival! Gin Tonic has seen quite the boost in “coolness” these last few seasons. Once the drink for avid restaurant goers and British gentlemen (or those wanting to be one), it has evolved into the drink of choice of hipsters everywhere. Dedicated Gin Tonic bars are popping up left, right and center, the quality of spirits offered often ranging from cheesy pubs serving low rated liquor to mixologist masters serving the finest spirits. The secret of a perfect G&T lies in the marriage between the choice of gin and, even more so, the other half of this union, the tonic. Complementary at the least, the tonic has to enhance the subtleties and nuances of the spirit, elevating the whole to the next level and making the whole more than the sum of the parts. No one understood this better than Hendrick’s Gin, and in wanting to keep offering the best possible spirits to mixologists worldwide, they decided to research, create and launch Quinetum, a highly exclusive quinine cordial (don’t call it ‘just …

Bombay Sapphire The Bar Bag

With our 12th anniversary coming up, I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with a great gift for my love. And while Mr B is an amazing guy,  an easy one to get gifts for, he is not! Enter Bombay Sapphire and the ‘Bartender on the road‘! The classiest and most famous gin, a worlwide a staple in each and every drinks cabinet, Bombay Sapphire has just put an end to that ever-so-frustrating search for the perfect gift with their excellent collaboration with the New York hipster store par excellence, Barking Irons. Result? The Bar Bag! And whilst the combination of the words “male” and “bag” do not really project the most masculine of images (male bags are just a huge no no, no Gucci or Louis Vuitton print will ever change that!), this bag is the kind of thing that is  the making of a gentleman! Inspired by the classic gentry style of 19th Century London, the bag is modeled after the old school medical kits one’s distinguished GP would carry around with …

Holiday musings…

Only a one more week and a half, and we’re off… Not to the great unknown, discovering faraway places, extinct cultures or recovering from an 11 hour flight jetlag on a tropical white beach with crystal clear water at your feet. We’re doing the quintessential Belgian family summer holiday thing, ie packing the kids in the car, stock the car booth to the brim with clothes, baby stuff etc and crossing through France to spend a leisurely three weeks in the North of Spain. Having spent more summers there than I can remember, I know exactly what to expect from this holiday, and to be honest, there is something very relaxing about that knowledge. Fiesta, Siesta, Sangria, the kids-friendly version: Fiesta: Probably the least applicable of the three, with a baby and a toddler there won’t be a lot of fiesta-ing, and a spot of reading in the garden with a gin-tonic after the kids have gone to be doesn’t sound that mind-blowingly exciting, but that is exactly what I plan on doing. Catching up …

A sparkling Friday night thanks to Fizz & Fruit

Imagine the following setting: a sunlit Friday night, a gorgeous chateau located in an equally gorgeous park, soft, jazzy music floating through the air and a constant topping up of the glass of bubbles in your hand.  The invite for the launch event of a new sparkling wine was what set this perfect date night in motion… Organised by Mampaey, this magical night was the perfect setting for the presentation of their newest drink, the Fizz & Fruit Pamplemousse, as well as getting reacquainted with their other brands. Undoubtedly the star of the evening, the Frizz and Fruit Pamplemousse deserves an article of it’s own, so that will be heading your way next week. In true mansion-style, each drink had it’s own bar in a separate room, and you could just waltz from the Infini Champagne bar via the Mouton Cadet  wine station and the Ile de Ré Cognac booth to my personal favourite, the Ungava Canadian Premium Gin hotspot where Ungava Global Brand Ambassador Joshua Broom was shaking and cocktail making the night away. Bombarded …

5 Things

I keep reading these 5 things articles with other bloggers, and I simply love them! It’s like a little sneak peek inside someone else’s mind, a small discovery of the person behind the blog. Some bloggers like to just let it all hang out in the open, others remain a bit secretive and keep to themselves, and as much as I’d like to keep the mystery alive, I can’t help but share the 5 things that have been racing through my mind the last week. * Pillows: Ever since we bought a new sofa a few months ago (still waiting for it to be delivered…), my mind has been obsessing over new pillows to go with that new sofa. As this is the perfect excuse to throw out those washed out, ratty ones that we have at the moment, I have been searching high and low for new ones that are chic and sleek. These and these beauties from H&M Home are at the top of my list at the moment. * & Other Stories: …

Wishlist Wednesday – Sipsmith London Dry Gin

A small departure from my usual beauty and fashion offerings, but stylish nonetheless. And not wishlist per se, as I already took it home with me, but coveted nonetheless. Two weekends ago saw the 3rd Gin Fair in Antwerp, and as a gin-tonic afficionados (that’s putting it midly), Mr B and I made it a date. Kids happily playing at their grandparents’, we prepared ourseleves for what was to come with a luch at Ellis Gourmet Burger and afterwards, off we went for an afternoon of gin-tasting, cocktail-pairing and all round new discoveries. We saw, tasted and learned a lot, but there was one stand-out for me, the one that kept luring me back, was the Sipsmith collection. They very kindly let me savour each and every one of their offerings, and having never heard of this London based distillery before, it only seemed natural to begin at the beginning, with the Sipsmith London Dry Gin. Their version of the classic London Dry Gin is like a truely sensual woman, well rounded and complex, perfectly …
