Lippie Friday

Friday Lipday! I’m all in! What better way to start that final countdown to the weekend or liven up that final day at work than a bright lippie, and I am more than happy to oblige. Two days ago we celebrated International’s Women’s Day, and both this year’s motto “Be Bold For Change” as this article by Sali Hughes inspired me to break out my favourite reds again. ” Red lipstick is a kiss to womankind” – Sali Hughes First up, and my utter favourite by a landslide: the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. It’s praises have been sung by countles beauty afficionada’s, and there really is no other like it. Vibrant and intensely pigmented with the most beautiful perfect deep red, this stunner offers that perfect balance between grace, elegance, strength and attitude! Up next, and gracing my lips today is the MAC Viva Glam I. A slightly darker blue-ish red. A touch darker than Ruby Woo, but texture-wise the same, and holding power is also equal. I find that I …

Soft Eyes

After a good few months of rocking a strong lip, I’ve slowly been venturing back into the world of eyeshadows. Electric blues and gold glitters still scare the bejesus out of me, but slowly but surely those soft taupe, sand and copper tones are popping up more and more in my daily make up look. Bourjois takes me straight back to my late teens, when I first started wearing make up behind my mum’s back and would sneak into my local beauty hall to buy their rond pots with my allowance. Fifteen years later, we seem to have come full circle. Last summer they released their Nude Remix combinations, and the golden sand that I first bought all those years ago made it’s way into my collection once more (Oh the memories!). Extra-ordinaire, combined with a touch of brown courtesy of Extra-vertie, is the perfect daytime combo of a nude golden hue with an added darker shade for extra depth. The days that I want to go for a bit more oomph, I’ll whip out …

Wednesday Wishlist – Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Cream Masque

A new Wednesday, a new wishlist item, or so it seems. Proof that big love can come from small packaging: the Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Cream Masque. And when I say small, I really do mean small, this latest infatuation actually stems from a sample sachet. I received a sample of this mask with a Philvert order of some other Grown Alchemist goodies (later more on those), gave it a try, and ended up squeezing every single last bit out of the sachet (actually cut it right open so that all could be used) for three more uses…. Rich, creamy, longlasting comfort and plumpness due to the Olive extract and Geranium Oil, and intense hydration thanks to the Babassu, hyaluronic acid and Camellia Oil.  It must be love, love, love…. Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Cream Masque – €59

Voya Dream Restorative Night Cream

The luck of the Irish is upon us! Or at least upon my skin. One of the latest additions to my skincare cabinet was the VOYA Dream Cream Restorative Night Cream*, brought in to fill the void left when I scraped the last bit out of my previous nighttime sweetie, the Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream. VOYA though probably not new to you beauty afficionada’s, is new to me (shame on me!). The core DNA of this Irish brand is  is organic seaweed, combined with the best botanical ingredients. In 2000, the Walton family re-opened the once renowed Strandhill therapeutic seaweed baths on Sligo’s rugged Atlantic shores, and after a few years, they started growing, harvesting and using organic seaweed to create their first own beauty product, the VOYA Lazy Days Seaweed Bath Soak. Fast forward a decade, and Voya has grown it’s range to well over a 100 products and a strong presence in spa’s and institutes all over the globe. If it’s good enough for the Walfdorf Astoria, is it good enough for me? The …

Filorga Optim-Eyes

The eyes have it, or so they say. And if indeed, the eyes really do have it, better make sure that those eyes look stellar. Which, at the moment, they don’t. Saggy, sallow, blue-ish circles and slightly bloodshot eyes, it not exactly a sight for sore eyes. Just sore eyes, that’s more like it. The skin around your eyes is around 20 times thinner than anywhere else on your body, and if you think about how often you blink or rub your eyes on a daily basis, it makes total sense to prioritize a good eye-care routine. I’ve been searching high and low for a new eyecream to take over from tthe La Roche-Posay Redermic, and after a few misses, I decided to go with what I know, and gave the Filorga Optim-Eyes Line a try. Filorga has long been a beloved brand of mine (don’t believe me? Read here), and after a few allergic reactions, I was eager to find something that would work. As is always the case with Filorga, the Optim-Eyes Line redefines …

A Babor Discovery

Before I dive in head first into the 14 day long food coma also known as The Holidays, I want to get a headstart and protect my skin from the carnage that’s ahead. That’s right, come Christmas I go at it full force, forget any and all mention of diets, common sense and double cleansing, so in an attempt to minimize the damage upfront, I’ve added the Babor Reversive Anti Ageing Overnight Mask to my nighttime routine. Truth be told, it’s too soon to do a full review as I’ve only started using it a fortnight ago, but still, I do already have a few things worth sharing. I have a thing for masks, and especially masks that I do not have to take off after a certain amount of time, so thumbs up for this creamy yet not too thick texture that I can easily lather on. I do suggest applying it about 15 – 30 minutes before your head actually hits the pillow, allowing a little time for it to sink in. After a …

New Beauty Haven Alert – Philvert

“It’s Friday, I’m in love!” Well, in this case it’s almost Friday, but I am in love nonetheless! Today saw the launch of a brand spanking new beauty webshop, Philvert, and it’s like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter have rolled into one for this skincare lover. As it would befit a true beauty haven, Philvert is helmed by one of the most knowledgeable skincare connaisseurs out there, Philippe Bijnens. Created when his own extensive search for a Belgian webshop offering effective and organic niche brands skincare fell short, he set out to select the most effective of organic brands with that price / quality ratio we all love, and introduce them to the Belgian market. Kosas lipstocks, Kure Bazaar, Mr Bean scrubs, Antipodes, Marvis Mint, Leonor Greyl, Voya, I don’t know where to look first and more importantly, what to try first! Beauty heaven has arrived! “Practically nobody has time to fully understand what they’re buying or using for beauty and health, so we’re doing that for them, we take out the guesswork and show that there …

Oil It Up

To say that I love face oils is like saying The Great British Bake Off will no longer be the same, sweater weather is the best kind of weather or that twinning is winning (sweater weather twinning…. now there’s a thing…) …. it is, quite simply, stating the obvious. So when a while ago my stash dwindled to a mere single bottle, I rightfully panicked, sprung into action and immediately replenished my stash by going bringingback an old favourite and trying out a new kid on the block. Old favourite: Trilogy Rosehip Oil. What can I say about this that hasn’t been said before? This king amonst kings has been one of the first facial oils to amass critical acclaim and popular recognition, this one and the Pai Rosehip oil are the ones I always go back. I may stray, but I keep coming back, thanks to the hydrating, radiance boosting and anti-ageing effect it has on my Sahara-like skin. 100 % natural, so no nasties that might clogg up or irritate my skin, and mostly …
