No really, hear me out! As much as we like to do a full on 3-colour eyeshadow look, wing that liner into oblivion or bake ourselves in bronzer, sometimes, a clean red lip really is all you need. Paired with a flick of the right mascara and a little touch of a transparant powder, less really is more. French chic, quoi?!

Over the last few weeks some Make Up For Ever bits and bobs have snuck into my daily make up bag, and even though some items are loved more than the other, they all uphold to that sacred standard of quality above all (#personalpreferencesatplay). Finally available in Belgium, I could not contain my curiosity (Curious George – the beauty edition) and started playing around with some of their classics.

I start of with a little dusting of the Ultra HD Microfinish Loose Powder, and if it’s good enough for red carpets and HD movie close ups, it’s more than good enough for my day filled to the brim with pitches and meetings! This ultra-finely milled silica finishing powder operates as a long-lasting Istagram filter, blurring pores, softening texture, and adding a little oomph of glow. A little goes  long way with this powder, and I make sure to  apply it all over with the fluffiest kabuki I own, or I end up looking like one of the celebs with white circles under her eyes (never a good look!).

As much as it is fun to beak the rules, sometimes it pays off to abide by the old age adages, and bold lip, soft eyes firmly falls in the category of rules to follow. A touch of concealer and a few coatings of the Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara to make them pop a bit more, and tadaa, that’s it for the eyes. Truth be told, this is not my favourite mascara ever, I find it too drying and crumbling, but that does not take away fom it’s intense, jet-black colour.

But, coming back to my original and bold claim, sometimes a clean red lip really is all you need, and the Artist Rouge Crème in C405 Stage Red is the ultimate blue toned cherry red. Insanely pigmented, longlasting and that perfect balance between not too shiny and not too matte. Creamy, satiny perfection for my lips that packs a mighty punch, both in the boardroom and during a day off. 3 products, high impact, what’s not to like?
