Hands: the busiest part of your body but almost always overlooked. One can nip and tuck all they want, but hands will still give your age away. Scarring, dryness of skin, wrinkling, veins retracting to the upper layers, these tell tale signs will only confirm that your hands have already lived a life. Maybe Madonna should have paid better attention when this concept was explained…
I got my hands on the Verso Hand Serum (forgive the lame pun; I simply coul dnot resist) earlier last Autumn, and was intrigued by it’s different approach to hand care than your normal run-of-the-mill hand cream. Not to be applied when hands were feeling dry, this gorgeous tube took a place in my morning and evening skincare routine. Eyes, serum, hand serum, oil and cream, that’s the way we roll!
Verso is latin and means reverse, as in the backside of a painting or the back view of a dress. It is what is normally hidden underneath or has long disappeared, and this supercharged hand treatment aims to literally reverse the skin of your hands by restoring it to it’s former glory. Verso’s patented Retinol 8 formula (incl a high dose of Vitamin A, read here for all the specs on this) in the Verso Hand Serum is set to lessen the appearance of dark spots, scars and pigmentation, stimulate the skin’s own production of collagen and hyaluronic acid plus amplify your ability to retain moisture and even out skin, and UV filters are set to deflect the damage caused by daily sun exposure. Shortly put, softer mittens that look ten years younger. Sounds like a dream? Granted, marketing claims always tend to go a little overboard when praising a new product, but I must admit to having seen (and felt) the difference between using and not using this serum for a while.
First up, my hands feel softer and more resilient. Showers or a hand wash do not leave my hands achingly dry as before, and though I still reach for the hand cream afterwards each wash, it’s more a routine thing than me really needing it. A cooking accident left me with a significant brown scar om my left hand in January last year (Tip: never attempt making a roux while your kids are racing around the kitchen on their ride-on-toys! Molten butter is painfully hot), and while the scar has not completely disappeared, it has diminished to a point where it is no longer visible from afar, but only real close and personal. And that’s fine by me! That scar is a reminder for myself, but only for myself
