All that glitters ain’t gold, but when it comes to my hair, I’d go for that shine every day! As a woman with long and thick hair, blow drying my tresses every two or three days is a necessity if I want to avoid a frizz fest (and even then!), but let’s be honest, it’s hard work!  Without the help of my trusty hair dryer, may hair may fall straight down, not a wave or curl in sight, but it also looks dull and frizz rules supreme! Not my best look!

Haircare is probably the beauty bit where I am least faithful, I mix and match with whatever I have standing in my bathroom at that moment, and will happily use a shampoo of brand A with a conditioner or mask from brand B or C. This is turning out to not be the best way to treat my hair, as it has looked way better in the past. Time to step it up and get my tresses glowing again. In the meantime, I’ve been looking for something to help me fake that healthy hair glow, so when the Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry was launched, I was all ears (and hair!)! A product to help my blow dry process go faster (and therefore cause less damage and breakage) and amp up the shine?  Yes please and thank you!!

Branded as a dry oil for all hair types, it is designed to fasten blow dry time whilst at the same time give you incredible shiny hair. A blend of  Cyclopentasiloxane and Phenyl-Trimethicone silicones add shine and manageability to tresses, but the excess will also evaporate under the heat of the dryer. Silicones, yikes! But still, shine and suppleness without weighing my hair down or adding on the grease? I needed to test that!

The candy colour pink bottle is easy to spot between my legion of hair products, so we’re of to a good start! The oil is a bit strange to the touch, the liquid is suprisingly thin and water-y, and yet still feels like a dry oil, which is a strange sensation. I guess we have the silicones to thank for this! Because of this thin, water-like texture, it’s a bit more challenging to find the right amount. Luckily, using a drop (or 5) too much didn’t leave me with greasy, slippery strands, so that’s a two thumbs up fo me! The shine is noticeable though not too cover-your-eyes-blinding, but above all, I get to cut a full  5 – 10 minutes off my blow drying routine, which my hair is really thankful for! I wouldn’t exactly call it a treatment, I don’t feel like it adds some in depth nourishment or hydration like a serum or mask would do, but again, that is not the purpose for me, I’ll get that from a deep treatment mask.  I’m all about reclaiming my hair’s former glory, one blow dry at a time!
