A Cosmopolite Autumn, Thanks To Peter Philips And Dior

Peter Philips‘ first complete collection for Dior is here, and it is a stunner! After having bid his farewell to Chanel, Belgian make up maestro Peter Philips joined the ranks at Dior in March ’14 as Creative and Image Director, and finally we get to lay eyes (and lips and nails) on his vision for this Autumn! Drawing inspiration from the modern woman, in all her facets and ways, Mr Philips lets her play with colours and textures, allowing her to be strong and graceful at the same time. Dramatic when she wants to be, and light and bright the next day if she feels like it.  Aptly named Cosmopolite, the collection makes me want to be this cosmopolitan, elegant woman of the world!

As always, the eyes have it, and in this case, our eyes are spoiled by a new creation, straight from Mr Philips’ hands! New in are the Dior Addict Fluid Shadows, a hybrid, liquid formula that, once applied, dries into a magnetic finish with an enamel look. A gorgeous mono that lasts an entire day (tried and tested!) but a bit tricky to apply…  The Fluid Shadows are available in 5 shades, I’ve been testing Univers, a brown-silvery taupe with a hint of lilac depending on how the light hits it, and while it is not my number one choice every morning, it firmly took it’s place in my “good options” drawer.

The true champions with every Dior collection are of course the eyeshadow palettes , and the 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite in Eclectic is no different! As dark and frightening the purple, eggplant and moss green may look in the pan, the shades are soft-spoken yet pigmented, like a gentler version of their panned counterparts. My blue/grey eyes really complement these shades, and they add some warmth to the cool tones in my eyes. If I want to soften my stare, I use the champagne with a veil of the eggplant, and if I want to up the ante and make them pop, I’ll go for the silver. As always with the Dior eyeshadows, they apply and blend really well, and if you need any more proof that I really love this palette, I used it to create both my mum’s and my own make up for my sisters’s wedding day. Need I say more?

Of course the cheeks can’t stay behind with the Diorskin Nude Cosmopolite and the Diorblush Cheek Sticks. The 2 cheek sticks, Rosewood and Cosmopolite Pink give that hint of colour, and as it is a cream to powder finish, you can apply it as subtle (or not-so-subtle) as you like. The Diorskin Nude Cosmopolite is the highlighter of the collection, and just look at it! Beautiful in the pan and out of it. The shimmer doesn’t come through in the pressed version, but when applied, the soft, warm golden sheen comes glistening through, like dewdrops in the morning sun. My kind of highlighter (aka the one that warms up your complexion without looking like a discoball).

Lastly, Peter made sure that us beauty-diva’s needn’t go a season without our trusted favourites, so he also added in our essentials, but in new shades. The Crayon Sourcils Poudre in Ash Blond keeps those bushy brows in check, the Addict Fluid Stick in Avant Garde the Rouge Dior in Unique will keep those lips happy,  and the Dior Vernis in Blackout has already graced my nails more than any other polish this last month. A perfect mix of beautiful colours, classics and new innovations, Dior, je t’adore!
