My hair is a mess! There, I said it. Two pregnancies, too many colour jobs and almost daily hairdryer blasts have left it in a dry, brittle, unmanageable state that have my mum comparing it to neon straw (thank you mum!!). Needless to say, I need to fix it or chop it, and since I don’t want to say goodbye to my lovely long bob, I’m going into full restore mode, head first!
Joining me on this hair-restore mission is L’Oréal Professionnel, whose newest line, L’Oréal Professionel Pro Fiber is about to change this hair-saving game! With all the abuse, heat styling, swift brushing and environmental pollution we put our locks through, the hair fibres weaken and become prone to brittleness and breakage. Described as “a professional treatment to combat multi levels of damage, depending on hair types”, the Pro Fiber Line consists of three ranges, Pro Fiber Rectify for light and damaged hair, Pro Fiber Recover for medium damaged hair and Pro Fiber Reconstruct for thick, coloured and heavily damaged hair (that means mine!). If desired, you can start with an appointment at the salon for a consultation to determine the exact degree of destruction you’ve afflicted onto your hair, after which you just continue the treatment at home, with the corresponding shampoo, conditioner, mask, leave in serum and Re-charge Booster. All ranges have been enriched with L’Oréal’s exclusive Aptyl 100 Melecular Complex and wonder ingredient Aminosilane, both of which will fortify each fibre’s structure by filling in all and any damages from the inside out, while the cathionic polymers will act as your hair’s personal bodyguard, by covering the surface and giving it that silky smooth touch. Each of the products contains ingredients to ensure the results are maintained while the Re-Charge Booster can be used every four shampoos as a substitute to your usual conditioner or mask. So far the science!
My hair, in such bad state that it really needs the heavy hitters, was the perfect guinnea pig for the heaviest range of the three, the purple Pro Fibre Reconstruct range. A wash, mask and leave in serum later, I am left lost for words! Where my hair was dull, yellow and frizzy only an hour before, shiny, bouncy, blonde locks were swirling around my face when I stared in the mirror. Beginner’s luck, you’d say, but a month and a half later, my hair is still going from strength to strength. Manageabilty has improved, bouncy hair has become my trade mark and my locks have regained that overall healthy look and strength that I last saw 5 years ago. I still have to wash it every other day though, so it doesn’t regulate that aspect, but all other areas: two thumbs up! L’Oréal Professionel set the bar pretty high for the future!
