Little washes of colour – Loving MAC All That Glitters and NARS Andromeda

Sometimes you just don’t feel like slapping on a full face of make up, but going barefaced won’t cut it either -you know, those days when naked face equals scary face. I often have those days, sometimes because I really don’t  feel like faffing about, and sometimes because my morning routine is so damn hectic that I end up drinking my coffee whilst doing my skincare thing and taking my breakfast to work with me (2 kids to dress and feed, one school run, one daycare stop and a drive to work make for stressy mornings…). Going barefaced is one step too far when I have to go to work or meetings, so that’s when these two little chaps come out to play.

After covering my bases with a little dab of the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation and the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer, I usually go straight for the two littlest pots in my collection  (size isn’t everything you know :-)), MAC All That Glitters and NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Andromeda for that little wash of colour that perks me right up. A little bit of powder, a lot of effect!

MAC All That Glitters is described as a beige with a golden pearl, a perfect my-lids-but-better on medium skin tones but a delicious light golden caramel shade on my lid. Slightly sultry, not too yellow, not too bronze and not too green-ish, this is my go-to shade when I want to bring some warmth to my face. Top it off with some Bobbi Brown Smokey Eyes Mascara and I am done! And with some time left for that extra cup of Nespresso!

NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Andromeda is one of the latest magic tricks to come out of François Nars’ wizard’s hat, and can be classified as a pale pink ivory with a soft golden shimmer that catches the light in a beautiful, elegant not in-your-face way. A bit sheerer than the MAC, it can be applied dry and solo with the tips of your fingers for a barely there sheen, with a brush for a softly pigmented light alabaster pink or with a wetted brusher for a stronger, brighter application. One little pot,  3 possibilities, 30 seconds! The pragmatic in me loves this little treasure. Again, finish with a few coats of my beloved Bobbi Brown Smokey Eyes Mascara, and I am good to go. Now, if only NARS would come to Belgium!

What are your go-to options for a quick make up fix? What are the fixers you can’t do without? I’d love to hear all about it!
