A soft look for Christmas

If you’re anything like me, you just love to plan everything. Christmas decorations need to have a theme, table decorations need to match that theme, your Christmas outfit has been chosen long in advance, and even make up looks are contemplated well up front. Not everyone always wants to go all out with a smokey eye so glam the Christmas Tree looks rather dishevelled next to you, but if you want to keep it simple yet elegant, my soft-lit look might just be what you’re looking for.

First things first, start by prepping your base with the Clinique Universal Superprimer to keep it looking extra fresh, extra long. Buff in the Sisley Phyto Teint Expert All Day Long Foundation until you’ve got the coverage you prefer, and then finish off by covering those pesky dark circles and red spots. My weapons of choice for that? The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and the Bobbi Brown Corrector. A very light dusting of the Bourjois Java Rice Powder delicatly illuminates skin without looking like a disco ball, a soft, velvety sheen is is what we’re going for here! A soft little hug of NARS Douceur for your cheeks, and we can now focus on the eyes.

Even since getting them a few weeks ago, I started using the Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather Effect in Creamy Beige as an eyeshadow primer, as I’ve found that the creamy texture not only holds the look a lot longer, but also gives it an extra depth without the actual colour of the primer shining through. It just gives it that extra oomph you want. The Christian Dior Quint in 508 Nude Pink Design is perfect to keep it understated yet glamourous, effortlessly elegant without being too outspoken. Apply the lightest colour (bottom left corner) on the entire eyelid; followed by the upper left highlighting pink to create some sheen and dimension. Blend in a soft touch of the bronze on the outer part of the eyelid, and hey presto, your eyeshadow is done! As I love eyeliner, I went for the Lancôme Artliner in Black, but you can also go for the dark purple liner from the eyeshadow quint. A few coatings of Chanel Le Volume Mascara in Black, and your eyes will pop brighter than that first bottle of champagne!

As for the lips, I prefer to keep it in line with the rest of the look, and not go for a bright lipstick. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy, Burberry Lip Mist in Pink Heather or Rosy Red or the Bourjoir Shine Edition in 123, Soleil are perfect options to complement your look.

Do you already have your look planned? I’d love to read it in the comments!
